This thread is to share how you have been impacted by COVID 19 whether you have been exposed or have loved ones that have caught it. Also many have been economically impacted such as being put on furlough etc.

I am impacted in part by work. We now have Telemed in place. Codes have been tweaked to allow this to all with a phone. My personal impact was I think I probably have/had this. A few weeks ago I went to the doctor. Coughing and runny nose, gross like going through daily boxes of Kleenex. I go to the doctor. When checking in I am asked a series of questions and my temp was taken. Oh before the doc went in for chest xray. So long story short, I did not have pneumonia, and also I did not have the flu so the doctor says, "You have bronchitis." I asked how did I get that and he says, "From a respiratory illness." So I asked if I could get a test and the answer was no because I did not meet the then current CDC criteria and as my doctor said, "There are no tests." What was funny is how he was washing his hands like the scene from Macbeth. I was given an antibiotic and steroids. I am much better. I feel there a lot of us who have had this and never were tested. .
My PhD advisors are petitioning to have me be "essential personnel" so I can do research during the shut down. All of the labs are currently closed so I have to get permission to be in my own lab and office (which is wild). Other than that, I am not really impacted- I am new to my area and don't know many people, so I never really had anyone over my house.

I feel bad for the folks who have lost there jobs and of course their life 's due to this.
I just wished more people would think of others, this is frustrating when you see people doing what they have always done, no masks, not listening to guidelines to keep themselves and others from catching this.......
