If a nonterran species did exist, I don't believe they would allow themselves to be made aware of.
Think about it. They have the technology to transverse the cos mere in an efficient and timely manner. Meaning they would have a conveyance that could transverse from one area to another many lightyears apart. Which in itself says they have a way to sustain themselves in an environment conducive with thier wellbeing. We're talking drive engines, nutrition, environmental and medical specific to their existence. They would have to be able to work in tandem with one another to bring a great many things about to accomplish the exploration and study of planetary bodies as well as the various forms of life out there. Humans are a carbon based life form. Imagine life based on other forms of mineral, metal or gas. Imagine being able to detect those forms of life even if it's not life as you know it.
Now, taking all that into account. Look at this planet and it's inhabitants. Think about the governments and the types of mindsets in the people working within these governments. Do you think it would be a good ideal for another species to make themselves known to this planet? The various governments would want access to the technology to further their political and self-serving ways. Militaries would want to get access to the possible weaponry or see if anything could be weaponized. The ability to transverse multiple light years alone would be an incalculable strategic advantage over an adversary. Not to mention the ability to outfit and feed that military. Most scientists would want to study these life forms and see what makes them "tick".
Another galaxial species would be in extreme danger if seen or caught here.
Besides, it would cause total chaos in politics, religion and economy.
Hollywood movies call it "Cultural Contamination". They're not wrong.
As for these so-called "Alien Abductees", they are just people seeking attention. Nobody travels 1,000's of light years to abduct "Joe Bob" from a trailer park. Even if they did appropriate a human, they'd be able to "delete" the memory of the experience if they woke up.
Afterall, the human brain works off a low form of electricity travelling through physical neural pathways with synapsis. Stopping a specific electrical pulse along a physical neural pathway. Then, removing that short neural pathway would not be beyond them to accomplish. Effectively removing any trace of the memory.
I'm probably going to be flammed for this response and that's fine by me.
I'm evolved enough to ignore people who aren't educated enough, wise enough, intelligent enough or experienced enough to make valid and informative commentary.
