do you think we should be allowed to do homework in detention instead of punishment essays ?

Acouple of weeks ago i had a after school detention as a punishment for poor behavour, it lasted 1 hour 30 minutes and was VERY VERY boring, we were given 5 minutes to get to the detention room , then the detention teacher took the register and gave out the work most of us had to write an essay on why we wewre being punished, some had to write lines and some had work sheets to do, only then did the 1 hour 30 minutes start, we got out of school 1 hour 45 minutes late, by the time i got home i had no freetime, if we could do homework in detention instead of punishment essays at least we would have some freetime, what do you think ?

LOL, we didn't have detention, we has Our teachers Paddle with names Like Maker of Rules, or I love math on one side and I will not for get this on the other.
Or Attention getting, they all had holes in the to reduce drag, increase velocity, and leave cute little rings on your bottom.
And then we had detention with it, and not no home work, an signment to explain while you were disruptive or failed to do you home work.
Then we got to do the Home work at home.
The concept of having "free time" was not in the calculus. Once all that was done, was when you free time began.
While corporal punishment may seem barbaric, in todays culture, it usually got your attention and ended the behavior.

Taught school for 3 years. I don't think homework she be done in detention. Writing punishing essays are meant for punishment.
You can see the presenting issue is a lot of kids would get into detention just to do their homework.
I am favor of kids having study hours Most of the schools here have study hours.
