I sighed as the duel ended. I lstopped rotating the darkness and it remained an orb emmitting little wisps of darkness-smkoe. I thrust it up in the air, where the orb exploded, raining down red-ish charcoal peices of hardened matter. I picked one up and put it in my pocket. I then saw Hariet getting her revenge on Keikoa. I glanced over and saw Seeker. I knew she'd take care of it, and I left the arena.
I walked back to my room, opened the window to tempt a breeze in the stuffy room, and then opened my closet door.
I reached in the back and brought out the ornate wooden box. I opened it with the key still worn around my neck. I picked up the pocket-sized calender and looked at all the symbols. Tonight would be the night. Despite myself, I sank to my knees slowly, my face gone ghost-white and rigid. I couldn't cry. I was too worried.
