Your link was interesting, if you could post a brief summary of why you liked the article would be appreciated by the users here. 
I know some years ago the EU was a leader by starting to force tech companies to manufacture interchangable battery chargers and connections because so many ended up in the landfill when various gadgets became outdated or unwanted.

To summarize:
The EU is making it mandatory for smart phone manufacturing to have a removable battery just like with older android phones. This is a step in the right direction against planned obsolescence and towards downsizing e-waste and bettering the right to repair.
interchangeable transformers etc will help keep the landfills from overflowing too!
In many ways the EU is far ahead of us in North America- ty for posting!

In order to compact lithium and connect it to a rechargeable electric source you need to use a gear and a crank to smash it lower to the ground. Duh.
