Finally some good news. Hopefully this effects manufacturing in the US.

I know some years ago the EU was a leader by starting to force tech companies to manufacture interchangable battery chargers and connections because so many ended up in the landfill when various gadgets became outdated or unwanted.

To summarize:

The EU is making it mandatory for smart phone manufacturing to have a removable battery just like with older android phones. This is a step in the right direction against planned obsolescence and towards downsizing e-waste and bettering the right to repair.

interchangeable transformers etc will help keep the landfills from overflowing too!
 
In order to compact lithium and connect it to a rechargeable electric source you need to use a gear and a crank to smash it lower to the ground. Duh.
