Female UM?

Should there be a female UM?

I made a point in another thread that sometimes, people prefer speaking to a particular gender in regards to issues.

Could we consider getting a female UM for this reason?

A woman reporting sexual harassment might not want to deal with a male, for example. On the other foot, a male might not want to speak to a female... or maybe he does want to speak to a female over more sensitive issues that wouldn't be deemed masculine or something. It could also help to have someone see something from another viewpoint.

Not disregarding current UMs (Well, not the majority of them) being approachable or anything. Just think it might be a nice idea to have both a female and a male in a UM position for moments where this might be the case?

Thoughts?

so you agree that non-binary or any other gender identity not only exists, is valid, but also should be a UM? wait till shortdickman sees this
Good point- of course they exist. Another reason why this poll is discriminatory as it defacto excludes all other genders. Im actually shocked its me that has to point that out.

edit: added "poll"

saved to wayback machine...but regardless...stop trying to grasp on to random false flags to avoid getting fired or called out for being absolutely useless in life

...its hardly discriminatory lol. Its not saying any other is worse or better than another, just would be nice for a bit of variety.

And of course, if someone wishes to do it, and gets permission, there should be no reason as to why they shouldn't. Just... wether there is someone who wants it or not is around is the question (someone with an actual chance lol)

its specifically promoting one gender (only) and excluding at the expense of all others, thats the very definition of discrimination .

Ok @Louize just add an equality act exemption from your post. That’ll make it more definitive. No links tho 🤪🤏

Sorry, promoting only one gender? Are you blind as well as dumb?

If you are meaning the whole "some people may be more comfortable with a female um to talk to".... maybe. But its still not devaluing anyone else of opposite gender, just that having options would maybe help some people to speak out more
