First Job

Part of the right of passage into adulthood is the realization that you have to rent out eight hour portions Of your life to make a living So what was you First Job?how long did it last? and how was your first employment experience?

My first "real Job" was like most teens was in Fast food. I started at Mickey D's. after watching two hour of boring training videos..They shoved me into the kitchen with a crew that didnt speak english :help: This job lasted two weeks ..It ended when during one of the busiest times of the day ..i screwed up an order and the greasy Pimply Little butt weasel of an asst manager came Into the back and screamed on me for about five minutes. so I did the only i could do.. as he walked off Puffed up from his power trip..I smacked him right in the back of his head with a fish sandwich 😱k: threw my apron and stupid paper hat at him and walked out the front door.

So what was your first work experience ? spill it :thumb:

My first job was making hamburger meat and delivering meat at a Meat Market. Great high school job as the owner paid me under the table i.e. no tax reporting and straight cash weekly.

bar cook

at the tender age of 14 me pops hired me out one summer to make subs, pizza an such at his fav watering hole during race season in exchange for all the booze he could drink while i was slavin in the kitchen. i worked 6 hr shifts 4 days a wk an never saw a penny. he even kept the bloody tips.

I started my first "real" job after I completed high school when I was 17 years old. I worked at a nursing home. It was one of the best jobs I've ever had. I met so many interesting people, and heard so many interesting stories. I will never forget my time there.

i was 16. still in high school. it was a daycare. with the after school kids. i would work from 245 till 6 pm. when i was 17 they changed the laws that said that if you work in a daycare you must be 18. i was supossed to be fired but wasnt. my job title had changed from room assistant to assitant to the director. because it allowed me to stay there and doing everything from staying in the rooms to doing dishes running errands or faxing things . the day i turned 18 they stuck me in the infant room which was for ages 6 weeks to 18 months. that summer they shut down. im still involved in daycare and i have recieved my degrees for it.

my first job was working in the wimpy resturant serving and cleaning tables, cooking burgers n chips n stuff

My first job was as a warehouse operative that's basically picking and packing and driveing a forklift truck it was a very good laugh at first and the money wernt to bad but i got fed up with it and quit  now ime a full time bum scrounging off any body and every body 😀

when i turned 15 i got my working papers and started working at a dry cleaners. i got paid $7.50 to hang around with people who only spoke spanish. pretty much all i did was run the shirt section, make piles of which shirts were starch, no starch, heavy starch, and keep it all organizes.

and since i was the smallest id occaionally have to slither underneath the industrial machines and hook up the perc hose when we were getting a delivery.

it was a pretty awful job but i stuck it out till i graduated high school and moved.

Sadly, McDonalds.. only got payed $7.00 an hour. They pay the older ones less, stupid twits. I am glad I didn't work there for long, 'cause it was pretty pathetic pay for someone working from 8am-5pm. :/

Officially my first was a Receptionist/Secretary at an Auto Electrics. I think I earnt something like $13 an hr. I was trained to take on the head role for when the "office manager" was away on holiday. When I went through the pay roll books I noticed that she had been adding more $$ on to her pay cheque each week. Also noticed she had been dipping into the petty cash everyday. She didnt like it at all when I enforced a petty cash book. She couldnt steal anymore 😀

Got between $14-$28 an hour. Easy job. All I did was sit and watch things alot. Was boring though. Slept on the job and got fired eventually. I didn't care. I wanted them to fire me like 6 months before hand.

I worked at McDonalds.... loved every minute of it  Helps that I dated a few that I worked with :shock1: I was there about 10 months before I started working as a secretary :hmm:

My first job was when I was 16, had to pay my car insurance and my own gas if I wanted a car...
So I took a job at a local restraunt in my town doing dishes and helping cook.. I would go to work right after school and stay until closing... I never walked out the door to go home until midnight.....I got home at 12:30, did my homework, which took at least an hour, then went to bed... Then got back up at 6:00 am....
No wonder I fell asleep in my classes...
I did this for over a year....

my 1st job was working at the local truck stop when i was 15.. washing out trailers gee that was so special but it did make me money 😱k:

My first real job was when i got discovered on the surfing curcit when i was 15. Then i travelled around surfing in comps and being paid for it was awesome.

my first job was when i got out of high school and started going to college.. i needed some money on the side.. so my cousin got me a job as a cook at Hooters... i know what you all are thinking... dream job for an 18 y/o right... wrong... those waitresses were none too happy to be doing what they did and getting hit on and even pinched... the job sucked ass too and pay was crappy so i quit after 3 months... oh and i don't really eat at hooters anymore either... kinda ruined it for me working there...

The first time I worked was as an animator in a touristic village.. I didn't gain very much but i had a lot of fun and it was an incredible experience! I knew a lot of people and get a lot of friend!

My grandpa owned a concrete business. Every summer from 13 to 18. I started on the shovel and worked up to doing the finish work before I quit. And my back still hurts...

My first job was as a nurses assistant at the infirmary in the convent that ran my high school.
I realized at the tender age of 16 that i definitely would NOT be pursuing a career in geriatric health care. :shock1:

My first job was working as a telemarketer for a company that sold Kirby vacuum cleaners for all you Aussie out there you may have heard of them....and sorry if you ever recieved a phone call from me.....about 5 years ago 😛:

My first job was a paper round, earning ?7.50 per week delivering papers. But my first real job was working in a shop serving customers and stacking shelves. Didn't stay there long though because I got sacked! I then started washing up at a pub whilst I was still at college. After leaving college I carried on washing up and started cleaning at the pub as well whilst I looked for a proper job/career.

I babysat for years when I was younger but my first real job was a checker at a grocery store. It was fun at times because of the people I worked with but I hated most of the shift managers. I told one to fuck off once and then was told by another one not to say that because he'd take it literally....he was a perv. :ashamed:

I babysat the neighbours 2 children when i was 14 - 16 then my first real job was in a fruit and veg shop. That lasted 2 weeks because the other staff were nob heads and just wanted a dogsbody.

My 1st job was a( feeder/ later Nurse's Aide), part-time,for a few months.I was 16 and taking Nursing Assistant class. I worked in a nursing home for 2 yrs. Here's a pic of me and a friend holding our NA certificate on NA graduation nite...😀

hahahaha Hunni if it was those kind of toys then Id still be there...believe me 😀 You would of often found me in their showroom skating, riding, playing with every kind of kids toys under the sun... ahhh happy days ! 😱k:

My fist official job back when I was like 16 was working for my mom's friend who was a beautician. I was the receptionist/cashier.

First job was working for my mother as a waitress and cook, but don't think it counts as it was unpaid (and they say slavery is no longer here!!! 😱 lol!!)

I waitressed for a few months, but now do part time bar work whilst at uni, i might not do 8hours a day, but it pays off bills and gets me enough to help mum out, i guess!!

Other than that, i've been a babysitter, cook, chambermaid, counter assistant and checkout girl lol.

I worked in McDonalds. It's a great job to get you started, but once you learn about the work force and labor laws, you usually are smart enough to get out of their with some experience under your belt.

lol.. 😀sounds like fun.. like being a display model demonstrating toys and equipments 😀

Cool huh... I was actually paid to balance their books every month hahaha

My first 'proper' job was when I was 16, I worked as a counter assistant in a fish and chip shop. It wasn't the most glamorous job but it let me help my parents out with bills and what not..

I was 13 and I lived in Charlestown, in Boston.. I got special working papers on Beacon hill ..and worked in the Boston common playground or in the freedom trail booth .

I worked as a waitress in a restaurant near my home (in the middle of nowhere). The restaurant was part of a motel, coin laundry, and gas station with two pool tables in the back. It was kind of like "one stop shopping" and the only place for these amenities for 25 miles.

My best mate to this very day got me a job a factory where we would work for $5 an hour for two hours every night after school ($50 per week). Half of our pay would go into the lunch room where we drank cans of coke and ate Kit-Kats. On the school holiday's I'd work full-time and make good money for my age at the time.

I was paid $1.75 an hour, cash, plus tips. I think they paid me cash not to help me but to help themselves. They were working me very long hours (sometimes more than 40 a week) and were in violation of all sorts of labor laws. I was only 15 at the time. Had that job for 2 years.

Yep, we were in 9th grade, so 14yo at the time...I look back on this time with fond memories, cos we would mess around more than we worked, and loved to pig out on junk food in the lunch room as soon as we got there...

My first job i was 16. I worked at a gas station Union 76. I cleaned the parking lot, swept it and dumped the trash cans. I cleaned the inside of the station, swept it and dumped trash, mopped floors, cleaned bathrooms, filled all coolers.I did that 4 hrs everynight Monday-Friday.

my first job was working at a local drive-thru for about a year. I did a little bit of everything. My employment there was cut short when I got sick and the bosses weren't a fan of me being in the kitchen. It's actually a little more complicated than that, but my bosses weren't the brightest, so it was whatever.

Sounds to me like the bosses were jerks.

My first under the table Job was when i was a teenager and i worked with a tree cutter .. hanging from a rope 100 feet in the air with a chain saw .. Then came the real fun .. busting it down into segments and then log splitting ..My boss found it quite unnerving every time I broke out into Monty Pythons "lumberjack Song" 😱k: that was many moons ago and i believe that all the bark rash has finally healed

I worked at a nursing home. It was awfull because of personal communications a lot

I worked In A senior citizens home for a few years ..The fucked up part was that after you started to get to know the patients and considered them friends you'd get to see them wheeled out to the meat wagon :crying:

Oh, that is so sad, I'm literally starting to tear up! :crying:

I only ever had one job working in the Flower Shop the past few years off and on between studies. Ironically, I have made arrangements for those who have passed on. But to close on a positive vibe, I also made more arrangements for loving couples who were about to wed! :rose:

My first job was a McJob, as in literally working at a McDonald's when I was a senior in HS (17yo).

One good memory was the food: I would frequently grab a Chicken McNugget, wrap it in a slice of cheese, then dip it in ketchup and wolf it down.

One bad memory was being told to clean the women's bathroom--which was unusual since I'm a guy--only to walk in there and discover that some lady had sprayed her diarrhea all over the floor. :reallysad:
