For or Against Marijuana

Again, I've never smoked medical marijuana, let alone on many occasions, which is what you asking -- specifically. I've tried marijuana on one occasion, though. But that was it. It was ass.

Shut up woman, get on my horse.

Nah, but with all you say about it, why would you try it?

Cannabis is a great plant. The same plant has medicinal uses (treatment of physical pain, alleviation of nausea and stress, stimulation of appetite, and anti-depression effects) , can be used to make textiles and cloth, can allow you to think more powerfully and focused and to comprehend aspects of your life and philosophy. The seeds of the plant, which contain protein, can be eaten to survive. In my opinion, cannabis is a part of the life which we are meant to enjoy and experience here on Earth. I believe cultivation of and consumption of cannabis should be legal in every part of this planet.

What a load of pothead smack. If quieting school and end up as a bum is "comprehending aspects of your own life" & "thinking more powerfully", then I'm Jesus Christ.

Like it or not, no one cares about what potheads believe. You're a joke to society and for a very good reason. Unknown Soldier & you illustrates that perfectly.

Well, I know for a fact that you're an absolute idiot. Anyone on here can vouch for that. I can make that judgement by your posts, silly pothead.

You could argue that you're just acting like a fucking idiot, but that would still -- after all these months -- make you a dumbass to the highest degree. It's too late for that, I'm afraid.

A bit of self-reflection there Andy?

Apparently - you are afraid of everything.

My question is why are you including stereotypes in this debate? Not everyone who smokes marijuana is a dropout from school, or a bum, etc.

So the question is: sour diesel, kush, or mexican dirtweed...aka.. corn? I grew out of it...it was fun wen i was in school...but..now...don't have time to feel looped att

That's correct and also a point of mine. It can be abused -- much like alcohol. My cousin for example fell into peer-pressure, and look where he is now. He used to spend all his money on getting weed. He's on different drugs now, apparently. Funny thing is, when we talked about weed, he gave me the same bullshit that the Skater- whatever the fuck it is person gave us. IT'S GOOD FOR YOU, MANG! Yeah, well, you have no future. How about that?... Not that I actually said that. But much like alcoholics, they think they're always right and try to justify their smoking/drinking by making up some gibberish.

Successful people don't do drugs... Excluding famous people, like movie stars, etc. We all know why they start with drugs, and that's because their private life generally sucks major donkey balls because they don't do anything, thus fall under great depression. Obviously, anyone can end up doing drugs, but generally speaking, successful people becomes high on life, not drugs.

Through my person experience, weed is bad news. While it can't directly kill you, it has the full potential of transforming you into a failure like any other drug. What are the 'general' characteristics when it comes to potheads? Bad health & Stupidity. It's pointless. There is so much more to life than drugs.

You make it seem like once people start marijuana, they're hooked to it for the rest of their life, and doomed to a shit existence. A lot of people smoke weed on occasion, normal people. Weed isn't 'good' for you, but it isn't very dangerous if you're not a complete retard. Only 9% of those recreational marijuana smokers become addicted deadbeat potheads. Now, do you have something against those who smoke cigarettes? It's a normal part of life to see a cigarette. Too bad its users have it much worse, it being that 32% of tobacco users become addicted. I've been pulling some info from a certain website, so now let me pull a big chunk of text, too.

"So, to wrap up, is marijuana addictive? For most people, no. About 10% of recreational users will develop problems serve enough to impair their work and relationships. Many more will come to depend on pot for relaxation and social purposes. This will be problematic if they don't learn more effective coping mechanisms and come to rely on marijuana instead of solving their problems. When ready, most people will be able to quit with only mild withdrawal symptoms. And, compared to other recreationaldrugs, marijuana is relatively harmless. But, it is not completely harmless. And...what is more serious than its addictive consequences are the legal ones. This relatively harmless herbal plant is unregulated and illegal in the U.S."

Keep in mind, Spenser, that those fancy statistics are only as accurate as the number of test subjects taken. It's also VERY hard to determine an addiction towards marijuana as it isn't physical -- it's a mental addiction.

Although, no. I don't think that every marijuana user is doomed. All I'm saying is that the potential is there. And no, I'm not trying to claim that Marijuana is one of the most dangerous drugs out there, in fact, when it comes to cases where it's fatal, it's the complete opposite.

That can't be right. Nicotine is as addictive as hell. Out of 35 million cigarette users trying to quit, 85% of them couldn't. Either I'm too tired and fail to understand something, or that statistic is a load of bollocks.

What exactly is your argument? I'm sure that marijuana has a much lower percentage rate than 85%. I'm confused on what you're trying to say, because everything shown seems to be pointing to the support of marijuana, despite a few idiots who have no self control, and continue to smoke like mad men.

"Research has shown that marijuana's negative effects on attention, memory, and learning can last for days or weeks after the acute effects of the drug wear off (Schweinsburg et al. 2008). Consequently, someone who smokes marijuana daily may be functioning at a reduced intellectual level most or all of the time. Not surprisingly, evidence suggests that, compared with their nonsmoking peers, students who smoke marijuana tend to get lower grades and are more likely to drop out of high school (Fergusson and Boden 2008). A meta-analysis of 48 relevant studies—one of the most thorough performed to date—found cannabis use to be associated consistently with reduced educational attainment (e.g., grades and chances of graduating) (Macleod et al. 2004). However, a causal relationship is not yet proven between cannabis use by young people and psychosocial harm."

"That said, marijuana users themselves report poor outcomes on a variety of life satisfaction and achievement measures. One study compared current and former long-term heavy users of marijuana with a control group who reported smoking cannabis at least once in their lives but not more than 50 times. Despite similar education and income backgrounds, significant differences were found in educational attainment: fewer of the heavy users of cannabis completed college, and more had yearly household incomes of less than $30,000. When asked how marijuana affected their cognitive abilities, career achievements, social lives, and physical and mental health, the majority of heavy cannabis users reported the drug's negative effects on all of these measures. In addition, several studies have linked workers' marijuana smoking with increased absences, tardiness, accidents, workers' compensation claims, and job turnover. For example, a study among postal workers found that employees who tested positive for marijuana on a pre-employment urine drug test had 55 percent more industrial accidents, 85 percent more injuries, and a 75-percent increase in absenteeism compared with those who tested negative for marijuana use."

The number of idiots -- overall -- is not a minority. There is no "pro" for marijuana use... Except for some medicinal potential.

If you're going to smoke marijuana all day every day, you are more than an idiot. But for MANY of the people who smoke, this is not the case. It's almost a minority in itself to see someone who smokes marijuana all day, every day.
