For or Against Marijuana

The endocannabinoid system acts a "global homeostatic regulator", and what this means is that it's what your body uses to regulate, control the creation of new cells throughout the body, like the skin, your organs, brain, eyes. The memory effect would be from a sort of burst of activity, in the microscopic world inside brains and organs, and so the body destroys some cells, in a clean and natural way, while also promoting brain cell and blood cell growth, new memories.

Found this part explaining the effects of cannabinoids on memory. Start at 6:00 and he says how cannabis helps P.T.S.D.

Yes, I think pot should be legalized. I also think alcohol should be criminalized. Pot smokers become lethargic. The biggest crime they would commit is stealing a hoagie. Pot is not habit forming. It relieves pain naturally. Does not cause liver damage and it is a myth about memory loss. More crimes are committed while someone has consumed alcohol.
Do you even smoke? I used to smoke every now and then and even i know people stay committing crimes and shit.people get shot up all the time just for a 8th SMH. and yes it is a habit most of my friends and people i know, all they do is sit at home wasting away their life rolling the blunt and buying weed cause thats all they can think about is feeling high all the time .they don't give a fuck. Yah it might relieve pain but dont fucking abuse it. If your not really hurting give it to someone who actually needs it so they can get better.

Hahahahaha, honestly, who even fcking cares?
I'm not for, nor am I against it.
Do what you want with your life, if you fck up, it's your fault.
If ya don't fck up, good for you.

Sure, there's violence and all associated with marijuana, but that's mainly because it's illegal and it's risking getting caught to have it. My opinion - if it were legalized, the crime associated with it would go down significantly - taxes would be raised for it, making some extra cash for this country..who doesn't want that. Yes, crimes will still be committed but..look at Colorado and California, in the areas where it's medicinally legal - everyone's like..chill lol. I mean there are loads of people against it, so of course so they'll get mad about it but - alcohol was illegal once too, and people felt the same about that as they do about weed now. So hey who knows - but with the looks of it, at the rate this country is going, I'd say 10-15 years max until its legal almost everywhere for medicinal purposes.
I also don't think it will ever be legalized everywhere for recreational use...some people are just too stuck on hating it for that to happen 😉

Personally, I am against it. Working in the mental health field, I see it used far too often as a self-medication for problems, and a very poor one at that. Drug Induced Psychosis (DIP) has severely altered many young patients permanently, so that alone is enough for me to be against legalizing it.

Also, in reference to this flawed argument that keeps popping up "well, tobacco and alcohol are worse". By that logic, why don't we legalize assault, because, after all, "murder is worse". Just because something out there is worse, doesn't make the first thing acceptable. And this country tried for over a decade to make alcohol illegal, but it was impossible. It has been ingrained in human nature for thousands of years, it will never be made illegal. All the more reason to not legalize more substances... once the toothpaste is out of the tube, you can't get it back in again.

i think the argument that alcohol and tobacco are worse (and legal) is rooted in the idea industries/government would find it difficult profiting from the legalization of marijuana. i think in its purer, unaltered, form weed is alright. i feel its links to psychosis or detriment to mental health are tenuous at best. it generally will slow down your mechanical function, for a time, and used excessively i've seen it affect memory retention and other 'left-brain' functions, but equally it allows certain things to flourish on the other branch. moderation is key.

i wouldn't think the way i do without using drugs.

as someone who has been smoking it inconsistently for almost ten years i've noticed the gradual influx of chemically-laced marijuana designed to produce larger yields or an added potency. it's done through the feed given to the plants when growing or spraying them like you would crops with pesticides. it's gotten to the point it's rare you find anything that isn't an impure strain. i feel like that is in fact a larger problem and more culpable for any negative side effects you have been seeing, and will see, in marijuana consumption. now, if it were regulated...

Is your thinking on par with Einstein, Edison, Newton, Aristotle or any other ground-breaking scientists/philosophers?
Cause if your thinking is moderate, then I feel bad for you if you need drugs for that.

@topic. I am against as well. I hung out with a group of potheads, and as much I love them as individuals, weed did not do anything good for them.

...what?

i'm unsure how you quantify thinking as moderate? are you suggesting my name needs to be immortalized in the annals of history to justify the recreational use of drugs for a broader perspective? could i not be equal parts (quasi-)genius and unknown by a pseudo-intellectual upstart on the internet who doesn't define me as ground-breaking? what if i've little academic interest in science? is philosophy even a profession anymore? consult Julian Baggini.

Edison was an idiot who made his fortune stealing Tesla's genius, btw.

my point was i don't think like the herd, and while it's worked against me, i'm ultimately thankful for it. your friends smoke pot so you're obviously better-equipped to talk on it - as opposed to me, an actual user who forms sentences you can't logically address. don't try and engage me again.

uh, that isn't the same logic at all and is a really crappy analogy.
murder's not legal.

I'm of the opinion, that there is far too many regulations by the federal government as it is. What people chose to do in their own homes, is their business--- as long as it isn't harming anyone else. However, I will say this, concerning marijuana. The plants these days, are not the plants of the 1960's and prior. It is a proven fact that the cannibis is far more potent and powerful than it was in those times; and what was once a harmless plant, has over time become an addicting one with dramatic costs to ones health.

Then again, maybe I am biased, I am not a big fan of alcohol either. Not to say I don't have a drink now and then, but I am of the opinion that if you want a drink, then you ought to pay for it and at a higher cost. The government taxes the holy hell out of cigarettes, but I can argue that there are plausible equal number of deaths (if not more so) in relation to alcohol abuse which include automobile accidents, liver and kidney disease, dehydration, domestic violence which alcohol was involved, etc.

So in my eyes, at least, you want to drink alcohol, want to smoke dope, etc. then you ought to pay more for it. A six pack of the cheapest beer, is roughly $8.00, and maybe it ought to be $10. I don't know the cost of marijuana these days, as I haven't touched the stuff since I was in early highschool, but let's say a pack of marijuana cigarettes was $20. Maybe it ought to be $30. Maybe if the price of these things were higher, then there wouldn't be as many accidents, or drug dependencies, etc.

However, I am aware, that if history tells us anything, its that laws don't necessarily help matters. When alcohol was outlawed in the 1920's and 1930's, all it did was create a generation of criminals. One can argue, if alcohol and marijuana was taxed to death--- people would just grow their own, purchase illegal alcohol and marijuana at cheaper prices, etc. but something needs to be done (in my view) because I cannot see how making this substance legal, will in any way, shape or form teach younger people the value of ethics or morals, and by making wise choices.

Maybe, the right answer, would be to raising the legal age again. Make marjuana usable to those who are 25 years old, or older. Cus lets be real, this generation to come isn't like us, or like our brothers and sisters, or like our parents, etc. the young people today, simply have an indifferent attitude to everything and feel they are entitled to everything. Rather than get more mature as time passes, it seems that in their 20's they still have the same mentality of when they were teenagers. Unlike us, we were forced into being adults and having to face the world head on and be responsible (for the most part) unlike the younger generation today.

So, really, the question ought to be 'Who is adult enough, to smoke marijuana, responsibly?'

Big Debate.

Big Debate.

im personally for it.. ive never known anyone to have issues with health. and i think we could make money... but thats a very simple view..

it just makes no sense to me why it is illegal, like it doesn't stop anyone from using it. If you wanna #420blazeitfgt then you should be able to without having to pay a fine or spend time in jail

In easy to understand terms lemme say you have 3 rooms.

In one room you have a carton of cigs, and you have to smoke every single one of them.

In another you have a giant bag of weed and you have to smoke all of it.

In the last you have a room with 3 full bottles of vodka you have to down in like 30 minutes.

In the first room you almost hack up a lung and throw up. In the second room you get super high and probably pass out before you finish the bag. In the last room you probably go to ER and get your stomach pumped.

Nuff said.
