someone sounds jealous.
You DO know that our staff does not set the age limit in there.....right? I'm confused about the "only when staff says it's ok". When did any of us say "hey, this is cool, come chat with some random uncle touchie"? The answer is never. But since we don't set the ages in there....what we CAN and DO enforce, are the rules stated in the guidelines. Would I (and probably all the other mods) love to kick anyone under 18 to teen room? You bet. But alas- we can't. You making some dumb poll about this does not change that fact.
Please just let V do the polls- this one doesn't even make sense.
You have no control over who does the polls, yes you do have control. if you like other staff have done stood up to protect children. This poll would not be here.

This has been an issue for as long as I have been here over 10 years - nothing to do with the room mods its CM who has made this rule.
Nothing will change this fact as it draws in the creeps.

Makes perfect sense if you stopped to read what is being voiced instead of smashing every voice who brings these to the front - This is constant issue with the 13 - 17 age bracket always has been.
While some are not in context they are valid considerations.
I wish all would stop reacting to the facts which are happening in the rooms, insulting, negatating or pretending it isn't happening or they are a troll.
It make me want to vomit to read such retortical rubbish from unpaid staff, you will not behave in my chatroom this way ad nauseum blah blah blah - why not take accountability and be honest upfront and transparent and say "I have no control of the content, context or ability to stop this as the tools are not available" instead of covering it up all the time.

@NavyEA-6B is also an ex-staff member who is fully aware of what can or cannot be done on this site, and is also very aware of who sets the age ranges in the rooms and how to properly submit those concerns.
I speak with them often. Sending a message to either doesn’t automatically entitle you to a response. Not receiving a reply doesn’t mean the message wasn’t read.

I addressed this, I posted my agreement right under a Mod that is also not a teen.
If the staff can not stay where they should why should eye?

Now don’t get me wrong I’ve chatted with minors in public forums Ee and Games. Those minors are now adults and never once invaded their safe zones.
So to answer your question in a specific manner:
Yes- adults and minors can engage, however it must of course be done in public. I get this is more difficult in chatrooms. In forums here it does happen.
No- Adults shouldn’t engage with minors. Especially in their specific safe zones or Teen Forum which is what I mentioned. Personally I’d make General Chat 16+ because as advertised the room is “General” chat however it is moderated.
Thats my view. I cannot be a hypocrite and advocate for the opposite of what I did when I first joined the forums, but I categorically agree the dangers are more prevalent now than it was in 2005.

Teens are generally annoying but they have their own forum teen forum so they can discuss all the important things in a teen's life such as acme control , make-up and the latest I Phones etc. The only time I even will notice the teen forum is when I see a response posted by an adult. I support the no teen forums ban and continued ban of teens when they reply in an adult section.
What I wish was enforced more is when a user in adult uses Anime. Now mods do kick them but most of them come and complain about a kick saying the cartoon model was suppose to be over 18. Then one of the UM's gives them 2nd and 3rd and 4th chances.

I got a PM from a UM not so long ago because I had done that. I had scrolled down and seen a recent ban/kick complaint and didn’t realise it was Teen forum. Mistakes happen. That crap is deliberate.

I am not unhappy. But when 22 year olds with no life experience are given absolute power they will be corrupted appsolutely.
And no I was on mods that slack all the time when I was a mod, I was asked by my admin not to bring it in here. So I kept it in the rooms I workked.
But general critizism is inappropriate, there are good and bad staff.

Then tell me this. How exactly can you know how much "life experience" said 22 year old has purely from knowing them online? It's not like you actually know them or know anything about them besides their username and the few facts they may have decided to make public. I have seen 18 year olds with more experience and maturity then people who are in their 40's and 50's. Basing it off age is silly and just shows how much intelligence you really have.

The mods in Singles are stellar. Most of the time you dont even have to flag something, as theyre on it. The room is actually more enjoyable when theyre around, because theyre not power hungry, have been modding together for years, and are pretty down to Earth. The room only gets the energy sucked out of it when degenerates (like the one who liked your post) get kicked/banned from Gen and bring their bs to Singles.
I don't go in General because I do not agree with the morality (and questionable legality) of children chatting with adults. And I do no go to singles because I am not single.
Really, how much life experience can a 22 year old have other than a hard time growing up.
Has she traveled the world?
Has she lived in Italy or France?
Can she speak Italian?
At 22 does she have at least a Master or PhD?
Has she managed or lead over 1000 people at once?
Has she been responsible for the health and well being of the above number of people.
Has she worked with people injured from tragic injuries, given first aid on the side of the road with a mans cranial fractured and leaking

Half of the things you listed are things that most people don't do in their entire life. I know people who have been to over 50 countries by the time they were 15, and people who have only been to 1 or 2 on their whole lives. I know people who graduated college at 19 and people who never went to university or college. Judging life experience off things like this isn't fair or valid. Life experience can come in many shapes and forms and I don't think you have the right to say who has it and who doesn't, especially since you don't seem to have much of it yourself. You spend all day in a chatsite stirring up trouble for no reason and giving everyone a hard time. You have no right to judge anyone, let alone our fine admins of this site.
I am not going to respond. Because your experience and mine are different with the admins.

So I think some derailment is in order. @FairyxStar_oOo The first super admin name was Dan. He went by Chatmaster. His wife was actually Administrator at that time Her name was Dahma. I am not sure what she did but I think she looked over the site when the husband was down. I am not sure when they stepped down.

The whole time you've been talking about "life experience" and questioning what younger moderators could possibly know. Yet @RogueYeti7 has demonstrated far more maturity, composure, and professionalism in their responses than you've shown throughout this discussion.
Age and life experience do not automatically equal wisdom or maturity. Someone can be 80 years old and still behave immaturely. Likewise, someone much younger can approach a situation with patience, perspective, and respect.
What stands out here is that instead of addressing the actual issue, you continue to inject unrelated grievances and personal frustrations into the conversation, then attribute those motives to others. That doesn't strengthen your argument—it weakens it.

You have no information, if you did, youd share it. Youre doing this as a direct response to you being fired as a mod and then banned on the forums.
I dont speak for any of the mods or the ADMIN of Gen, but I can in this instance as I know this to be true : None of them agree with the age in Gen Chat. However, speaking out of such thing, would possibly get them fired. Them being fired would make the room less safe, especially if theyve been a mod for over a year, and understand the usual suspects.
