GET RID OF THE REPORT LIMIT SYSTEM!

As for the report limit:

- yes, it is easy to max out the limit instantly when spammers and bots and UA posters fill up /sex/ when the mods aren’t on/are on, but are juggling Adult too/are on, but are not getting to the reports.
- I report rather than/as well as ignore because I want them banned. Ignoring some of this stuff is complicity
- I understand the reasoning behind a limit, to stop spiteful/frivolous reporting, but agree it should be set higher. There are presumably ways in which the reporting mechanism could be sophisticated, but not in a way anyone important is bothered about

The lack of action is always the problem in /sex/ though. Constant paedophiles. Bots every day pushing disgusting images onto main chat. Ban evasion. VIPs who are bulletproof because they paid so they can do what they like. Revolving cast of crap admins. Mods getting burned out in weeks or even days. Nothing ever getting done about any of this. We, the users, regularly being dismissed as “needing to touch grass” or get a life.

Pretty obvious why we’d be incredulous at the claim that Chatmaster regularly communicates from his ivory tower to the swamp of /sex/.

Hello, just because there are daily violations doesn’t mean there’s lack of action. The moderators work hard every day and night removing pedos and underage and all the other violators. But there’s really no way to prevent people who want to violate the rules from entering a chat room. That goes for any chat site. The best you can do is staff moderators to remove them as quickly as possible. Which we do here.
You can be as incredulous as you want about the communication part. I was simply sharing my first hand experience of what I see on a daily basis. That’s all.

Ideally, what would you like to see possible from a mod perspective that would make life easier?

No way of applying a captcha to prevent bots? No way of preventing guests from posting images (which expose users to child pornography)? No way a site with 1000+ users regularly can have more than 15 mods, some of which work double duty? No way the site could be doing anything more to support the mods?

That’s not what I said. Of course there are ways to improve things. But implementing those things is the decision of the owners, not me.

You keep saying that's up to the owners...is anything your responsibility? do you do anything productive outside of carrying a badge and clicking a button?

I say that because it’s the truth. It is up to them.

As for being “productive”, I volunteer my free time here because I want to make this a safe(er), fun place. I have removed thousands of pedos and underage users, as well as all the other violators who disrupt the chat rooms. I feel that’s productive but if you don’t then you’re entitled to your opinion.

how are they to make anything better if not by input and collaboration from staff and users? you sound like Sisyphus with your description of productive...

  1. Enter the chat
  2. See the abuse
  3. Kick the user
  4. User comes back
  5. Ban the user
  6. User comes back
  7. Ban the User
  8. User comes back
  9. Ban the user
  10. User comes back
  11. repeat steps 5-10

We may have different ideas of what productive means and that’s ok. We don’t have to agree.

The staff and users have made many, many suggestions for site improvements. You have been here for decades and you already know this, you also know how this site operates. So I’m not sure why you are acting like you don’t? 🤔

Me: the lack of action from the site is the issue
You: there’s not lack of action
Me: the site is doing nothing
You: that’s not my fault it’s the site

You don’t need to defend the site owners’ shite, complicit handling of paedos and bots just because you mod here dude. Nobody is saying it’s your fault.

That’s a bit of a misrepresentation of our discussion. I think we are talking about different types of action. You were saying that no action is taken and the room is flooded with pedos and bots. I said the staff DO take action. But you mean the owners aren’t taking the action you think they should.

And to be clear I’m not defending anyone. I can only speak of my personal experience. This all started because someone said there’s not a lot of communication between staff and owners. I said in my experience there is communication. That’s all.

Am I right
@Administrator if you get rid of the report limit feature can you go ahead and get rid of @The Sky along with it.

The dilemma here is that users are limited to 4 or 5 reports and there is more problems in the room than there is people to take care of them.

Add to this the fact that mods cant ignore reports through messages, and youll find that there is more BENEFITS to allowing more reports

Having unlimited reports means:

The offenses will never go unpunished as they stay suspended inside the flag system until theyre actioned upon. Unlike a PM where history/screenshots are automatically deleted after 48hrs or so.

The mod is forced to take action, and there is a record of that action

That mods dont have to waste time "searching history" for said offenses sent to them in PM

That mods dont have to have their PM box filled with reports and all complaints are contained within one system

That the report is in the system, and the system can only flag real events in chat.

Not events of fiction like the screenshots Snacker doctors to spread lies or get users in trouble, as Moderator @Miss Mushroom has personally fallen victim to.
