Yeah, I know there is probably another room this could be posted in... But come on... Girls watch (American) football too so let it go... I mean, especially when some dude is posting nonsense about lizard women.... never mind...
Besides, like us girls, they are seriously underdogs... GO LIONS!

Disclaimer: I am not really interested in any sport, whether it's the NFL, rugby, or the type of football we play (the one with a round ball)!

This though is an opportunity for me to bring out an amusing (to me at least) random piece of NFL trivia that I once heard that may or may not be true. And that apparently is Pittsburgh steelers fans hate the Cleveland Browns but they also hate the Baltimore Ravens because they used to be the Cleveland Browns - I don't know how often it happens, but the concept of teams moving between cities and states seems really bizarre. For some reason I know that the Rams and the Raiders have moved cities a few times between them.

The NFL does seem fairly popular in the UK, they play several games in London each season. But I've never watched a game the whole way through. I am of Irish parentage, so I don't know if there are any teams with Irish links at all, if there are, then go Irish ancestry team!

It's relatively common in the USA.

I'm fascinated by the names that make no sense after the relocation:
  • Los Angeles Lakers were from Minneapolis (where there are lakes)
  • Utah Jazz were from New Orleans
  • Los Angeles Dodgers were from Brooklyn New York ("trolley dodgers")
There are a couple of moves that sort of work:
  • Rockets moved from San Diego to Houston, where NASA is
  • Fort Wayne Pistons to Detroit, a centre of automobile manufacturing

It's almost shorter to list the NBA teams that haven't moved. 14 of 30 started out in a different city.

7 NHL teams have moved. 8 NFL teams. 8 MLB teams.

Don't know how or why this got moved from the room I posted in, but it's fine.
The one thing I wish is that since this thread has to do with the Detroit Lions... not college ball, not 3rd grade insults toward girls that Putza needs to continually make, that we keep it to the Lions.

if you think the state of michigan is going to sit there watch that superbowl turn it off and just say yea! then go to bed. youd be dead wrong. they are going to take it to the extreme , annoyingly so. ( which is the definition of insufferable)

the superbowl is the ending point of the football season, which the lions are now up 8-1, 1st in the nfc north division (kings of the north) and have a great chance of getting to the super bowl. if creating posts about their fan base isnt on topic i dont know what is.

Omgosh... what a great game. So close... Came down to the wire and Chicago could have had it but took too long to make that last play, missed it, and it cost them...

Alot closer than it should have been, but gotta give some cred to Chicago. They really just need to polish up some stuff, a coaching change would be good for that, and get some more pieces around young Mr Williams.
 
Yep. Looks like the Lions lost. Oh well. Buffalo came out strong and kept up the fight. Detroit just couldn't do it. Detroit only lost by one touchdown.
Nevertheless, Detroit is 12 wins and 2 losses. There is still every chance the Lions will not only go to the playoffs but to the Super Bowl.

That was an incredible game... To me, Josh Allen just secured his MVP last night. Hes beaten the two best teams in the league, Chiefs and Lions, and was amazing doing it.

Lions win again! Beat the Bears 34 to 17. I had to work tonight so I slept through the game thinking I could watch it on NFL when I got home and when I walked in, turned on the tv, it turns out I missed it again. Drats. Well, I hope it was a good game.
Lions are now 13 - 2.

Lions beat the 49ers... Wow... What a weird game... Did not expect the 49ers to be so aggressive but hey, the Lions still puled it out winning 40 to 34... Wow, what a game. Many great plays and at least one penalty that should have been called but wasn't... Oh well... That's football.

Very good game. That one summed up the 49ers season, talent but no real execution and they just cannot stop shooting themselves in the foot.
Great game from the Lions, showing their power.
 
Oops, they did it again... Lions 31 - Vikings 9.... Can you say "Ouch"? Sure, I knew that you could. I missed the game, again, cause I had to work but such a blow out I think I would have skipped anyway. I like a good game but if it were 31 to 27, sure, but ... wow...
Lions are now #1 in NFC North and for the second straight season are 15 wins and only 2 losses. Woop, Woop!!!

With a heavy heart, I must report the Lions are out of the playoffs... Heavy sigh... Commanders 45 - Lions 31... It was a good fight, I hope but I'm not sure what happened, I had to work and missed yet another game. There's always next year.

The Detroit Lions had a great year for sure in 2025. I do not hate the lions at all. I like the Lions too. My favorite is the Washington Commanders. I hope you're doing well and you have a nice weekend.
