How did you find out about the site? What made you join? What made you stay?



I’ve came cross this site back in August of 2021. That was the year I was trying to figure out my sexuality. I was still confused on what I wanted to be but I knew what I was into. My purpose was to look for chats that were for lesbians or people that were on the same boat as me. Basically looking to chat with people that were gay, bi, and or lesbian. I wanted to know their story so I can explain mine and figure out my sexuality. I was confused my whole childhood, until I went to high school and finally admitted to myself “ Girl you know damn well you like women too just as much as much as you like men 🤣 “ loll so now I classify myself as bi and I’ve met some good gay people, trans, and straight along my way up until now. 😊 so the question is simple, how did you find out about the site? What made you join? What made you stay?

Back when my house first got the internet I used to love using the old AOL chat rooms & I just found myself remembering back and wondered if chat rooms were still a thing.

A ****** search later & the rest is history!

I stumbled upon this site around the year 2000, when I was 15/16 and in high school, so roughly about 24 years ago. The first chatroom I used was Parachat around 1999 and a couple of other obscure AOL websites. Before Parachat got closed down, some of the ch@tters there mentioned a website called Chat-Avenue, so I thought I’d check it out. I think they were Canadian, as is Chat-Avenue.
The people who’ve been here longer than 10 years know me as ‘Alfie’, the rest call me ‘Dutchy’ I’ve visted this site on and off ever since. Took an 8 year hiatus around 2004/2005 while at University (occasionally popping back in) returning back in 2012/2013. Took another hiatus and returned back just before Covid around 2018ish. The names I’ve gone by on Forums are ‘Memento Mori’, ‘In Vino Veritas’ and of course my current account name.

The first ch@tters I came across in no particular order were Screem, Calaba, Duality of Man, Weetabix, Capt’n Fred, Sugar, Kar, Cherrypie, Sublime, Lizzie, Jason21, Grace, Carver, Mahler, Cooper and a couple of others whose names escape me.

excellent story..if you visited girls chat around 2008-2010..you may have seen me moderating there..I definitely remember cherrypie..I wonder how she's doing .
