I hate to complain, but...

I was in the Girls Chatroom, and after around 5 minutes I was warned and interrogated due to having a picture of Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman as my profile picture. It's the same silly picture I have on here. I assumed he was universally known, but I was treated like I was some sort of catfisher. My profile picture was deleted, so after supposedly clearing the air, I asked if I could change it back, but I didn't get a solid answer, since the mods weren't 100% agreeing with one another.

I'm a bit taken aback. I don't want to start drama or anything. I just want some clarification. Are women in the Girls Chatroom not allowed to have male celebrities/actors set at their profile picture? I honestly don't think I did anything wrong, but I don't know.

Thanks in advance.

I'll also add that I'm autistic, and American Psycho (the movie the character that the actor plays is from) is my special interest, so I find a lot of comfort in having him as my profile picture. I just wanted to say this in case there's any questions about why my profile picture was specifically that character.

My understanding is that celebrity pictures coupled with the name of the celebrity are not allowed (even obviously celeb names on their own are a no-no.) this is due to impersonation; yes people really do pretend to celebrities. Actually I just had this discussion with Karina a couple of days ago as I was checking if the rules had changed since I last modded, so that I could report a profile.

Pics on their own shouldn't be a problem, I've used pics of male musicians in the past from bands I like. For a short time I used a pic of Brianna Hilderbrand in the character of negasonic teenage warhead (from Deadpool) this was actually when I was a mod.

If it's a character that is controversial/racist/usesviolence against women etc, then that can cause issues. In that case removal of a pic would be understandable.

This makes sense. He's a pretty evil character from a psychological horror film. I won't change my pic back to him then, but the other potential explanations were good too, so hopefully this thread will be helpful for anyone else in a similar situation.

I'll read over the chat rules again to see if I missed anything about this, but if these points aren't mentioned, I think it'd be a good idea for the admin to update the pinned thread to avoid future misunderstandings.

The pic you used may well be fine, if it’s the same as this one it doesn’t appear to be problematic on its own, there’s no blood etc

Around holidays like Halloween there are people who use pics of characters from horror films.

But as Becky says, wait for clarification from Karina, at least then all mods can be on the same page.

I'll sit tight.
