Increase in spurious "Spam bans"

Hi

I was banned last week for spam. Happily, Admin sorted it out within 30 minutes of my reporting it, for which I am grateful. However, I did notice a flurry of recent arbitrary "bans for spam" registered in the forum. This seems to be a new event.

I was also just chatting to a friend and he got "banned for spam".

Ironically, the number of very obvious bots has increased sending advertising to my incoming messages. (maybe 10+ per hour).

Are these issues that the development team currently aware of and are in the process of addressing?

Any insight would be welcome.

No, I am not banned again. It is more of a general observation. I am noticing in the forum and from anecdotal evidence online that people are being hit with "Spam bans" out of the blue. It is perplexing and points to some system changes

@Ks_guy tagging you so you can more eloquently explain. I know about the system and spam bans. We both been around a long time and nowadays most bans seem to say "spam". Some are honest mistakes but many are users trying to bypass room rules. Maybe you can help this mature bear find his inner cub.

Hi- fair enough but it's making the site a bit unusable to be honest. Been banned 3 times in the last week (including tonight and banned currently) and each time I'm told I did nothing wrong. Do you have any hints about which combinations to avoid ?Can you look in to my current ban also ?

@MatureBearVers, I understand as I worked with you through this previous situation. The spam filter is constantly changed to make an attempt at beating back some of these annoying bots. Alas, nicely bystanders trigger it and get caught up. I understand it causing inconvenience but it truly helps a lot too. Only the owners edit the filter so you’d want to message @Chatmaster if you’d like to discuss further. Thank you.
