Intermittent Fasting

So I haven’t seen a thread on intermittent fasting yet, so I thought I would post one.
I have been doing 5 days of fasting a week, I have tried 16/8,20/4 fasting so far,
20/4 seems to work the best for me.
Recently I have been trying clean fasts. I have found out that I am more hungry with clean fasts. What I mean with clean fasts is that I only drink water after I close my eating window, but after 6 hours I am starving. When I do dirty fasts which with those I drink crystal light lemonade packets I can make it through 20+ hours of “fasting” no problem. Has anyone else had this issue before with clean fasting? I’ve been reading this book called “Fast,Feast,Repeat” and the author says clean fasts are the way to go. She says dirty fasts make people “shake” and “hungry” but I don’t know lol. Does anyone have any opinions on clean vs dirty fasting?
I have lost about 20 pounds so far in about 3 months.

I fast for personal reasons

If it works it works.

I was diagnosed as diabetic just over 2 years ago. My weight was 94kg and my HBa1c was 10.9.

As a result I did a lot of research on how various elements of a diet work rather than look at diets all together. The first bit of information I heard a few times in the diabetic community is was 'There are essential fats, there are essential proteins, but there are no such thing as essential carbs.'

Carbs are a fast burn and need less energy to create energy and have low GI which only leave you with hanger cravings again in 5 mins.

Proteins and fats are slow burn and use more energy to turn in to energy.

Fasting isn't always a good thing as well, it can trigger the body's survival mode, which is where when every you eat, your body stores energy for times when your body thinks it is about to die from starvation.

I then modelled a diet that consisted largely based on Keto...low carbs, high fat and high protein...one of the first things you need to learn is that eating fats is NOT bad....being FAT is bad and dieticians have you brain washed so you can buy their diets.

Also, portion size is the next most incredibly important factor.

This worked for me.

I was diagnosed in November 2020, by May 2021 I was 67kg and my HBa1c was 5.6 and that is where is has been since then...Also with my high fat and protein diet, it allows me to have a cheat meal here and there with next to no impact....and by cheat I mean CHEAT.

I am not suggesting that this approach will work for everyone, I am just trying to say do your own research and formulate your own approach to weight loss and weight management.
