I don't understand why/how people get so emotional about something that is essentially a GAME. It's like everyone turns in to some sort of knuckle dragging neanderthal, and gives them licence to act like a complete grunting arsehole and with little to no repercussions from violent behaviour.

It's needed because the players are larger and stronger.
The USA doesn't focus on ''soccer'' like most of the world. So for the USA to lose. Its like ''eh that's fine we still crush the rest of the world in other sports'' lol. Can't hog it all.
