1. Game 5 of the NBA Finals between the Rockets and Knicks
2. The New York Rangers had their Stanley Cup parade
3. The U.S. Open took place
4. World Cup kicked off
5. Ken Griffey Jr. tying Babe Ruth's record of the most home runs (30) before June 30
6 . and this happened

 
Not like Griffey’s record would stand or actually turn into a 162 thing. The strike ruined everything that year, and baseball is still not fully recovered.
