Ketoconazole/Nizoral shampoo.

Does anyone else use ketoconazole shampoo? I think it’s sold under the name ‘Nizoral’ in the US. It’s mainly used for dandruff/seborrheic dermatitis and greasy hair and there is tentative evidence it works for androgenic alopecia and can regrow hair, especially the more potent 2% solution.

I’ve been using it for almost two months now. It works wonders for me. No more greasy hair or dandruff. If it actually does work for androgenic alopecia, then i’m pretty happy to use it as a preventive measure.

Does it actually prevent hair loss/regrow hair? Thoughts anyone?

fruit extracts and natural oils (coconut/olive/etc) also natural butters are good too. whatever combination the more the better with a lot less additives. shampoo you mentioned is a scam because it’s not the organic form of the chemicals that’s in it so doesn’t behave as such. just able to be sold legally promoting those chemicals by having it included

Keep using the chemical stuff and ignore the advice above. There's more allergens in fruit extracts and more likelihood of pore clogging, irritants and build up from oils.

If you want some actual science backed haircare advice with real explanations - Look up BeautyLabMuffin on YT. She's amazing at her haircare info.

Thanks. Seems like sound advice. Your thoughts on Ketoconazole/Nizoral?

I've not used it myself so I can't comment much, but the things I've heard about it are all good things minus the "Facebook said it's bad so it must be true!" conspiracy nuts. And I'm pretty sure there's backed research into it actually working which again, can't be a bad thing!

It has been around since forever and being forever old , lol I used it in the 80s and it did not prevent hair loss .

I am not a Doctor so just my advice and now in my 70s to old to care but knowing people who have used it the 5 percent minoxidil which comes with retin- a or whatever it is called in same bottle does work and I use collagen for hip arthritis and can tell you it makes your hair way thicker but for me that is only side hair , lol which shave every few days but before collagen it grew at half the rate it grows with collagen .

I've heard about ketaconazole nizoral and I have heard some dermatologists swear by it that it not only helps with scalp health, it actually stimulates grwoth. I really think you're on track with this one.

Certainly will not hurt to try a bottle but it was originally for dandruff , flakes .

I never met anyone who used it who grew new hair but again ages ago so now certainly could be bit different formula and again worth a try .
