The boy walked through the forest in silence - listening to the sounds of the woods around him. He wasn't listening to the usual sounds, birds chirping, leaves crunching beneath his feet, etc. No, what he was listening to was something much more discreet. He was listening to the bugs. He couldn't hear them himself, but the bugs inside of him could hear, and they would tell him. Shino paused for a moment, as suddenly a new vibration spread through the bugs inside of his body. Somebody was nearby. He didn't pay any attention to it, it was probably just Ino picking flowers for her shop, or another of the Genin wandering about the forest, looking for a good place to train. He sighed a bit, and he looked up. His glasses shaded his eyes from the bits of cold sun that fell between the leaves. It was just becoming Autumn, the weather was chilling and the leaves were turning different colors. If one looked for too long, he would become lost in the beauty of these woods. Shino wouldn't let himself become lost - he never would. For beings like his bugs, danger was always about, and thus for him, danger was always about. He had to be constantly on the ready, and he was. His dark, spiked hair moved very little in the wind, and his long, light colored trench coat protected most of his body, including his face, the collar stretching up to just above his nose. He felt that strange vibration again, and shrugged it off once more. It didn't feel like anybody familiar, but there were many creatures of the forest he wasn't familiar with, and probably many villagers as well - he could resume his walk. As he continued along the path, he pushed his hands into the deep pockets of his coat, where his hands brushed against the kunai knives he kept there. His hands were often in his pockets, and he never wanted to be caught off-guard without a knife, though he highly doubted any such danger would come to him so long as he remained within the boundaries of the village.

"Urgh! I grow tired of waiting." A gruff voice spoke, tinged by irritation. Sasori's bulk was entirely concealed by his black kimono, with red clouds all the way down its length, and the lower-half of his face by a black veil.

"Do try and be patient, Sasori my man. We'll strike when the time is right.." Deidara intoned, fixedly staring down at his upturned hand. What appeared to be a mouth resided on the center of his palm, chewing away at something. "It'll be ready soon." Deidara stared sideways at his partner and smirked.

The two members of the Akatsuki Organization were sent to orchestrate an attack against the Village Hidden in the Leaves, for reasons unbeknownst to them. But they did not question the Leader's motives, and simply obeyed the orders that were given to them.

Several minutes passed before either of them spoke again. Deidara was completely fixed on watching his upturned hand, waiting for his artwork to be complete. He had something special in store for the Hidden Leaf Village. Sasori simply stood beside him, apparently staring at nothing in particular and emitting loud grunts to make his irritation palpable. He despised waiting..

"It's finished.." Deidara announced, staring down at his partner with a smirk and shifting his hand upward. A miniature of a wing-beast made entirely out of clay formed in his hand as he opened it up after working the clay a bit. "True art.." Deidara made a simple-hand gesture and suddenly the miniature bird burst into life and became one hundred times its prior size.

Sasori watched with little interest as Deidara climbed atop the crown of the winged-beasts' head.

"We'll meet back here whenever our work is complete, my man. It's time for me to do my part."

Sasori watched as the winged-beast soared high into the sky above, Deidara becoming little more than a speck of black against a bright sun. The shadow of the monstrosity was cast across the village of Konoha, and Sasori could already hear their pitiful screams.

Sasori turned his bulk slowly, lurching down the side of the hill toward the village. Along the way he thought to himself. "The man is foolish.. Art is not momentary beauty, but eternal beauty. Something that will last forever is true art.. Such is the work I produce..They shall see.."

And so the Master of the Puppet Technique, as he was known by most, sauntered amongst the tall trees, staring ahead at his objective. As he moved a faint rattling noise could be heard, almost swallowed up completely by the loud booms of Deidara's so-called art.

Shino's head jerked sharply to the right as he heard the first explosion. What was happening? Another attack on the Leaf Village, so soon? He started to hurry back to the Village, when he remembered that there was a shorter way back.

He skidded to a stop from his run, and started sprinting toward the village along this quicker route. He called all of the bugs that he had scattered to the forest to him, using the bugs within him and near him as microphones to transmit messages on a level that only they could pick up.

As Shino neared the village, he saw a man ahead of him. A short, stout man dressed in an odd cloak was maybe twenty meters from him. Shino frowned a bit upon seeing this man. Was this the enemy? He wasn't the cause of the explosions, but it was possible, always it was possible, that there was more than one attacker. One obvious and the other.. well, not as much. Shino got a bad feeling in his gut, a feeling that he would be fighting soon.

As he neared the man in front of him, he saw that he was wearing a black kimono with a red cloud design. It was vaguely familiar to him, where had he seen such a kimono before? It would be well to remember, it might save his life to remember. Whatever else the kimono meant, it definitely meant that this man was the enemy. Just to be sure, Shino lifted his right hand slightly out of his pocket, dropping bugs along the ground as he ran. The bugs could fly faster than he ran, and would reach the man before he would. They could relay to him any information he would need.

Shino then debated whether he should call out to this man, or just attack him. He didn't have any real proof that he was an enemy, so attacking him outright might not be the greatest idea, but as he neared the man he thought, surely, the man must know he is there, there was no harm in calling out. "Hey!" A high-pitched, blaring voice called out. "Just where do you think YOU'RE going?" Shino looked ahead of the man and saw Naruto, standing with his right hand pointed out toward the man. What the hell was Naruto doing? Didn't he recognize at least that the red clouded kimono meant danger? No. Naruto was an idiot. Shino sighed exasperated, but at least it meant there were other ninja about, and the man with the black, red-clouded kimono might turn away if faced with a large group. Shino learned this lesson very well from his bugs - there was power in numbers.

Sasori stopped moving as a youth with spiked, yellow hair pointed at him and yelled something indistinct. He had been thinking about Deidara's foolish idea of what true art really was when the youth had rudely interrupted his train of thought. He continued to stare at the youth with disbelieving eyes. How dare such a pathetic looking wimp address him so? Sasori suddenly grew irritated.

Suddenly a long mechanical, scorpion-like tail spiralled from beneath his Akatsuki kimono and struck the ground just in front of the youth; sending shards of stone and other debris toward the child's body. Sasori watched as the kid toppled backward and fell upon the earth, and took note of the fresh wounds the shards of stone had inflicted upon flesh; already dripping with blood.

"Foolish move, boy, to address a member of the Akatsuki in such a fashion. Even moreso considering who I am."

Sasori retracted his mechanical tail from the ground, letting it rattle in the air just above his head. He could still hear the booms of Deidara's artwork, if a bit fainter than before. Surely the man had covered a bit of ground by now, and the list of casualties had to be growing longer by the minute. He had no time to deal with punk children; He needed a real challenge. He shifted his cruel eyes away from the battered boy on the ground in front of him and lurched forward, his mechanical tail rattling all the while. It was a sound similar to the noise a rattlesnake produced.

The puppet that Sasori adorned was called Hiruko. This was one of his human puppets, a speciality of the Puppet Master. Its main offensive weapon had already been made obvious, but who knew what others lay beneath the expanse of black cloak that concealed its bulky form. This concept of controlling the puppet from within rather than from without eliminated the puppeteers weakness of being a completely separate and exposed target. So in a sense Hiruko was puppet armor, keeping Sasori's true form concealed within its bowels.

Sasori mumbled quietly beneath his breath. Something about "Foolish children", and continued to move further into the village. The rows of trees had begun to thin, thus giving more light for him to see. Panic was an obvious factor, becoming more obvious as frightened faces came within eyesight momentarily; before their wearers ran away. Sasori turned his face upward and could see Deidara's monstrosity. It glistened in the sun, irritating his eyes so that he could only stare for a moment.

And so he continued on with the hope that there would be no further interruptions to stall him from his work. What needed to be done, would be done. At all cost..

Shino watched as the man before him suddenly sprouted a tail, with almost no change in chakra at all, and thrust it at the unsuspecting Naruto. This was interesting. What kind of fighter didn't use chakra to create a tail? The kind who already has a tail. Shino approached the man quietly. Now it was clear that he was the enemy, and Shino should not underestimate him as Naruto had.

He let more of his bugs loose, sending them to scout his enemy for weaknesses. Shino's bugs were more than a part of his life, they were a part of him, and his family. His family had signed a pact with the bugs, that they would aid him in battle, and do his bidding as he requested, so long as they could live inside of him and feed on his chakra. Shino did not use many jutsus because of this, but he didn't especially need to, either. There was power in numbers, and the millions of creatures in Shino's body gave him all the power he needed. Shino had proved the strength of his bugs to the others in the Chunin Exams, during his fight with the sound ninja.

Shino now sent out a female bug towards the man, and the bug quickly scuttled along the ground, far ahead of him until it neared the man. The bug's intention was simply to latch on somewhere, and stick. It didn't appear that the man should know of the bug's presence at all. With the loud explosions all around, and the panic of the people in the village, the bug may as well have been silent, as the noise it produced could only be heard by other bugs, unless all else was silent. Nor did this female bug need to make noise for the others, as its sublte scent drew the males of the species to it.

Hoping that his female had latched on to the man, Shino proceeded to draw a kunai knife from his pocket. He didn't throw the knife at the man's back. The tail suggested that there would be other surprises, one of them probably extremely tough skin. No, he would have to find a different way to defeat this man, but so long as he had the element of surprise -

"Shino!" Damn. Was the only word that ran through Shino's head as Naruto called out his name, waved frantically, and ran to him. Did this kid have any brains at all? Probably not. "Run away Naruto." Shino said quietly. Naruto looked at Shino, with a hurt expression. "Find the other man, he's got an accomplice dropping bombs all over the village, you should stop him." Naruto nodded, suddenly filled with a sense of duty. "Right." He said, and ran off, totally ignoring the man who had almost killed him in one blow despite running within five yards distance of him, off into the village, probably to be blown to pieces. Shino sighed, hoping briefly he didn't just send Naruto to his death. He walked up to the man in the black, red-clouded kimono, standing a good distance away from him still, but it was clear that Shino no longer had the element of surprise. He'd just have to make do with the preparations he'd already made. He set his stance, moving his weight onto the balls of his feet, moving his left foot back and out from his right, just a bit. He brought his kunai knife up to his chest. "I am now your opponent." Shino said to the man, gripping the knife tightly in his fist.

"Hm....?" Sasori turned his attention back to the yellow-haired youth as he heard him call out, apparently not addressing him this time. His cruel eyes took note of another youth; the person the other boy must've been calling out too. This boy looked nothing like the other youth, instead he had bushy brown hair, a pale complexion and he also wore sunglasses. This boy was indeed taller than the other youth; indeed taller than himself in his current state.

Sasori watched the boys converse, the yellow-haired youth nodding his head vigorously and suddenly running off into the distance. What had the boy with bushy brown hair told the other? No matter. It was of no circumstance, surely. He watched as the youth approached him confidently. Another foolish boy..? He thought as he stared up at him with cruel eyes. A bit of surprise rose from within as he watched the boy take a stance, holding a kunai in one of his hands. The child spoke to him. " 'I will be your opponent.' "

A surge of irritation caused Sasori to sway Hiruko's tail in the air just above his head; a black liquid clearly visible upon its tip.

"Boy, like your friend, do you too believe that you can address me so? I'll show you what happens to those who underestimate the Puppet Master." Sasori's long mechanical, scorpion-like tail continued to sway menacingly above as he lurched forward a bit. "Let us see if you have the skill to back up your confident tongue."

Art in its purest form is that which leaves an everlasting image within our minds. It needs not to be everlasting in itself, only in the fleeting moments before its gone forever. Momentary beauty is true art; something so beautiful or surreal that it leaves a lasting impression within ones mind even long after its ceased to exist.

Deidara snickered as he watched the havoc his creations were wreaking. He extended his hand out in front of him, letting several miniscule clay sculptures descend upon Konoha village, and though they were small; the damage they inflicted was quite the opposite. Chunks of dwellings were strewn in large boulders across the ground where people ran. The monstrosity upon which Deidara rode soared high above Konoha, making it impossible for almost anyone to stop him from what he was doing. He was well out of reach and thus could continue to work as he pleased. There was indeed no reason whatsoever to rush. His blonde hair swayed as the wind pressed against his face, and his Akatsuki cloak took on an undulating motion.

He wondered how things were coming along with his man Sasori. He indeed had great respect for the man, even though the feeling never seemed to be mutual. He knew for fact that Sasori was the superior officer and was confident in him succeeding.

A din of cries arose as several more of his explosions crashed into buildings, shattering entire walls and further layering the ground with rock debris.

This was his art. This was what he believed in.

A Lust For Blood:

Hiruko's tail rattled ominously as Sasori beckoned the puppet to move forward. It was past time to get this fight under way. The sooner he disposed of this kid, the sooner he could seek out his true objective. The mechanical, scorpion-like tail coiled slightly, seemingly on the brink of striking; similar to that of a real scorpion's stinger.

"Well, boy, are you ready to die..?" Sasori's gruff voice barked the question at the youth, eyes growing darker as his intentions were made clear. Sasori's tail rattled once more before striking out at the ground in front of the youth, straight as an arrow, and sent debris rocketing into the air toward his form. Surely the boy, as confident as he was, could avoid such a feeble attempt to throw him off balance; and if he couldn't, Sasori's beliefs would be solidified.

Shino didn't blink as he jumped backwards from the tail instinctively. He landed four or five feet back, not turning his eyes away from the tail. As debris flew up around him Shino silently dodged between the bits and pieces of earth, curious as to what the black liquid on the tip of the scorpion tail was. It was probably poisonous, which was rotten luck for him. Poison only meant another thing to worry about. As this thought passed through Shino's mind, some of the black liquid came at him. As curious as he was to know what the substance was made of, he wasn't ready to let it hit him full in the face. Still, maybe it would be useful to him. Shino brought his free hand up to his chest, and focused his chakra. He did a quick substitution jutsu, replacing his body with the usual log, and he poofed himself behind his opponent, still a good number of yards away from him.

"I don't see how you can win if you don't actually try to hit me." Shino said, pushing his glasses up on his nose a bit. He was well aware that this was a cheeky response, and that was what he wanted. If his opponent got angry, maybe he would slip up. Also, if his opponent underestimated him, maybe Shino could get the upper hand. He didn't want to reveal his bugs yet, but he was still sending them out, the bugs coming to his opponent from random directions, without making a line or pattern.

This man had called himself the Puppet Master. Shino had once faced a puppet-wielding ninja before, but he sensed that Kankuro was not on the same level as this guy. He also said he was a member of the Akatsuki, a name which rang familiar in Shino's mind. They were a group of rogue ninja, and nobody except the group members themselves knew the leader. Shino took his defensive stance again, wondering suddenly, if this man is a puppet master, then the being he's fighting now must be the puppet. If this is so.. where is the master? Shino glanced about quickly, but could see neither the master nor his chakra strings. Chakra strings were hard to see anyhow, it was possible that Shino simply couldn't see them in the bright light, but where would the master be hiding? He had followed him from the forest, there was no way he could extend his puppet that far and still have such control over it, was there? The key to defeating a puppet-user was to separate the master from the puppet and take on the master, who usually has weak taijutsu. If Shino couldn't find his true opponent, there was no way he could defeat him.

The panic had driven people away from this area, which was good. Shino didn't want any random villagers becoming easy targets. He felt that his hands would be full enough saving his own skin, let alone someone else's. Shino turned his eyes back to his opponent, and his grip tightened on his kunai knife. He bent his knees a bit more, ready to jump again.

"Very good, boy, but I honestly did not expect that attack to be successful."

Sasori retracted Hiruko's mechanical tail and turned to face his opponent.
His composure was not tinged one bit. He knew for fact that the youth standing before him wouldn't fall to such a feeble attack. It was only a means of letting the opponent know that he was ready to fight. Sasori controlled Hiruko's right arm and had it lift to tear away the veil covering the lower-half of the Puppet's face. Hiruko's mouth immediately fell open after being revealed, a myriad of needles being launched toward his opponent. Another weapon of Hiruko was of course his mouth, serving as a projectile launching mechanism. The same black substance was on the tip of every single needle that Hiruko's mouth sent at his opponent. Sasori watched as the needles soared with great speed toward his opponent, and wondered if he'd be able to avoid this attack as well.

A gentle breeze touched the very tops of the tall trees, stirring their leaves when they didn't send them floating downward to the forest floor. The screaming had died down considerably, but there were still faint booms to be heard in the distance. Deidara watched as Ninja of various rank scattered across the ground, looking here and there for any sign of their assailant. Deidara chuckled at their confusion. They only need look up to know where their attacker was, although it'd more than likely make no difference; None could reach him. His Akatsuki kimono flapped in the back as the wind pressed against his form; the monstrosity he rode gaining a bit of speed.
