@Finn2.0 i thought if you at work last night. We had this older person in ER and they came to talk to her about nursing home. The social worker I mean and she said “you can let me die in here and go to hell before I’m going there” lol I thought o my what does he go through everyday.

Luckily I don't work with the elderly often. Which I'm glad about because they can be fucking brutal.

We have a poor mental health services here where I am from so they put them in involuntary protective police custody and dump them in the ER. They say here hold on and deal with them until you set up inpatient treatment. It’s sad the American mental health options are failing these people. They sit in ER’s for 3+ Days waiting on state hospitals and get dumped back out in a week with a new set of meds they can’t afford 🙁

I don’t have the insight that you and @Finn2.0 have but what I do see, the treatment of the elderly and mental health is a stain on every health and social care system. 😢

That’s not to slate the people who work in the system - it’s the system that’s screwed. Add money into the mix and it’s even more screwed.

That’s awful. We’re big over here on offering support but they don’t do much for long-term support. Immediate care is good and they’ll happily give out meds. But Anyone requiring full time care is often neglected unless they have a family member willing to help. Care homes and the like are massively understaffed
