mod names

I dont know where to put this so forgive me if its in the wrong area. Is it a rule mods cant change their names in chat rooms becuase they have to match the forum names or they get demoted. A mod told me this in a chat room but I NEVER heard of this rule and i know for a fact all mods dont match the forums name.
So either they are misinformed or Admins can make rules for mods with names and forums.
I guess I made the post to ask if they are misinformed or if admins are allowed to tell mods their names have to match forum names or they will be demoted.

Kim we just respect your opinion and knowledge of the kinks since you manned Willie and Tata chat for so long.
I think Purplerose should change her name to Purplehose since that Is what I call her and will forever remember her by.
Kim you are smart there is no way I can butcher your name. Also @Inkandtatts , you should change your name to what I usually call you. Just think of all the PMS you would get.
