One of the tektites I own. This one is an Indochinite and is approximately 5cm on the long axis.

Tektites are pieces of glassy rock that were ejected from the Earth by a hypervelocity meteor or asteroid impact which melted the rocks at the impact point and and flung them out into space in a molten droplet form. As they re-entered the atmosphere they cooled rapidly into a form of glass and acquired the surface features you can see in the photo.
