Project Freedom has begun!

We now control the Strait of Hormuz completely. We took out the water mines. Iranian drones and missiles are a non issue. They have been reduced to dudes on speedboats with machine guns we just blow up if they head for a tanker or one our ships. We are now escorting ships from our allies in the area and prices should drop very soon. Another global strategic trade and resource hub is now under our control. So now America can threaten to slam the straight shut instead of Iran.

We control oil in the middle east. Oil from Venezuela. Panama shipping lane. You guys still think all this is just random things with no point?

Mhmmm. All ya got is insults now. I win. Lol. Don't worry. I am sure the left will devise a way to make this look bad or refocus you on something else to hate him over. Have a good day. 🙂
It was not an insult it was the truth of your stupidity. There is no wins, the straight is not open, innocent people have died, and you are here boasting about it? Says to me you are a complete idiot.

I hate to say it but I agree with @ban active on this one.
The straits of Hormuz is still one of the three most dangerous ship passages in the world.
Yes a security force can stop small boat attacks and Burkes can handle High and fast movers and some low and slow, but if Iran swarm attacks a civilian ship or even a Warship, they will be hard pressed just to defend themselves and the cost will be monumental!

The Aegis system was designed to defend against peer to peer battles, yes it is adapting to the new role. Having said that 3 million+ a pop for SM-2/SM-3/SM-6 or ESSM (Enhanced Sea Sparrow Missiles) 1 million a pop to knock down a medium to high altitude track is going to cost a ton, and once they are depleted they have to go to a safe haven port to rearm.

For Low and slow flyers the The Phalanx CIWS (Close-In Weapon System) typically holds 1,550 rounds of 20mm ammunition, allowing for roughly 20–21 seconds of full-rate firing (4,500 rounds per minute) before requiring a reload.
in 100 round bursts that is about 15 bursts. In a swarm attacked that is small change.

Then you have SuCap (Surface Combat Air Patrol.) They will be airborne and and making holes in the sky above their assigned vector. Which Iran will have down to the T on when they come on and off station to RTB or to hit texaco, and will swarm at the most advantageous time to get a hit on a target. And using a fast mover to hit a drone is not as easy as it sounds. And is also very expensive at about $30,000 to $31,000 per flight hour. And that does include bullets (missiles.) Even if they hang every hard point with a missile the will be Winchester (out of ammo) in very short order.

Even if you add in the Electronic Attack capabilities, and Passive Decoys you are still in a world of hurt, because Ballistic missiles, Shahed drones, and many surface to ship systems to not use an active seeker, they beam ride or use EO to obtain and track a target.

You have won nothing. And you still have no concept of how Naval Warfare works.

Nice story dude. I love good fiction.

First off we're spending the money anyway. Secondly you keep saying Iran is gonna pull something off, but they haven't. They are literally on speed boats taking on destroyers and helicopters and jets. Lol.

I don't want war, but i like the potential of this plan.

Pretty much what I was going to say. @NavyEA-6B outlined a vulnerability we have, but forgot to analyze the enemy's will and ability to exploit it.

IF they still had the capability to do that, why haven't they? They certainly want any win against the US to shore up their perception on the world stage they are not weak. So they either can't, or, since it's a non-renewable tactic, have any capability like that reserved strictly to preserve the regime if they end up in death throes.

They know Trump very well. If it was Biden or Obama, it would be a different story. They were risk averse and didn't understand the mentality of Iranian Mullahs. They know any successful serious attack on one of our ships, as good as they think it might look, would come with swift destruction of likely their entire infrastructure. Added to taking of Kharg, blocking the strait, their country would be utterly detroyed.

Key Developments (As of May 5, 2026):
  • UAE Attacks: The UAE Ministry of Defense reported that air defenses were dealing with renewed missile and drone attacks from Iran on Tuesday.
  • Monday Escalation: On May 4, Iran fired 15 missiles—mostly ballistic—and four drones at the UAE, marking the first major attack since a ceasefire on April 8.
  • Strait of Hormuz: Iran also targeted commercial vessels and engaged with U.S. forces in the Strait of Hormuz, with reports of drones attacking tankers.
  • Damages: Attacks on Monday caused a fire at an oil facility in Fujairah, wounding three people.
The U.S. has initiated "Project Freedom" to escort vessels, with reports indicating 3 primary strike events by Iran on May 5, which represents a significant increase in activity.
Ya they are doing nothing

Before you speak,
become informed it just makes you foolish.
As of mid-April 2026, 13 U.S. service members have been killed and over 380 wounded in the conflict with Iran

Call their Families and tell them only 3 wounded, so they know that their loved ones are not gone. And there were 3 KIA in the first week in one attack.

We know what we signed up for or did you forget that when you were in?

Gee a thumbs up after you were so wrong.
I hope you never had to conduct a Military Burial, you may mistake the fallen member as just being asleep.

You're so disingenuous it's laughable. I was referring to the attacks of May 5th. Not since April. Also the ones that did die I do feel bad for, but this is what they signed up for. We can't allow Iran to illegally close an international waterway. They can keep American ships out since we attacked them, but not all ships.

“There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare.”
― Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Nice signature line. Do you bother to understand it? Benefits? Depends on your perspective. In deaths? In economics? How did WWII go? The U.S. was in a prolonged state of mobilization and conflict from 1941 to 1945. This effectively ended the Great Depression, built a massive middle class through industrial expansion, and established the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. In this case, the prolonged nature of the war allowed the U.S. to build an infrastructure that fueled decades of peace-time prosperity.

No benefit to a prolonged war with Iran? How about that blockade sailor? When the Strait (which handles ~20% of global petroleum) is blocked, global oil prices spike. This results in massive profits for U.S.-based energy companies, their employees, and oil-producing states like Texas, North Dakota, and New Mexico. They might view that as having benefitted.

Roughly 80% of the oil moving through the Strait of Hormuz is destined for Asian markets, particularly China. A blockade places an immense "tax" on the Chinese economy, slowing their industrial output and forcing them into a vulnerable position where they must rely on U.S.-controlled maritime security or more expensive land-based pipelines. Seems like quite a benefot to me.

You should probably understand history before you quote it.
