Query: Is it permissible for dead(closed) threads to be re-opened and the original meaning changed?

I very much doubt site admin would say

“Yes, go back and re-open a closed thread, edit post 1 to change the meaning behind it…almost two weeks after it was closed”

If HR can provide proof that this is the approach to be taken, endorsed by Site Admin then I’ll apologise and request that this thread is closed.

My feeling is that no-one ever said that and HR interpreted this incorrectly.

Misinterpreting something is fine. We all do it.

I’m sure one of the other UMs can help though, on the topic that this thread is about.

I’ve been here for almost 3 years. Others have been here upwards of 20. I don’t believe it’s ever been the case that dead threads should be re-opened to change their meaning
im going to go ahead and quote the entire post as it seems "they" dont know how to edit properly.

but id like to add to your last bit

"dead closed edited moved deleted and undeleted thread"

The thread wasnt dead- It was revisited , after speaking with site admin. The changes made were to conform to his instructions and how I planned to handle it going forward. This is getting ridiculous, OP is actually making a complaint, in OP

Closed for almost 2 weeks then reopened under the guise of “revisited”.

So I’ll pose the question again:

If a user has a thread closed then two weeks later wants it “revisited”, can they ask a UM to re-open it and change the original post?
(As you have)

It’s not ridiculous. It’s a genuine question that you’re being evasive about answering.

Ill I can do, is suggest you take it up with the site admin or CM, or whoever you wish.

its clearly stated here: https://forum.chat-avenue.com/threads/homophobia.951936/page-5#post-1403566 I know this is very important to you, so enjoy.
@purplerose is not asking you for a link she is saying that site admin would not tell you how to change/close/open change the narrative. Do you honestly think we are all this stupid? You have dug yourself a very large hole now you are wallowing and blaming others wow thats not new for you

If a UM other than HR can confirm with a simple “yes” or “no” the answer to this question:

If a user has a thread closed then two weeks later wants it “revisited”, can they ask a UM to re-open it and to change the original post to different wording under the guise of “clarifying” (even when there are many posts after it that responded to the first question and not the revised question), is that something you guys will do?

Then this thread can be closed

Please don't exaggerate. I fixed up my own thread, to conform to a few basic guidelines. And that link makes that clear. As a staff member things get done in order of priority, and time.

edited, to clarify

Please could you take the debate about your “own thread” to another of your own threads. This is derailing my thread

Much appreciated

if you plan to use me, in what is an matter that should have been in staff sections or CM inbox, Ive every right to reply here, to correct any inconsistencies, and "errors".

This is clearly a complaint, in the wrong place and it should have been be sent to CM because as well know, fixing a thread is urgent business, and top priority. What a spectacle smh.

You’re waffling HR. You’ve embarrassed yourself and now you’re trying to imply that I’ve broken staff rules. I haven’t.

Please, for the love of God, stop!

This issue is more about the way the thread has been handled rather than the thread itself, as this sets a precedent

I’m partly asking for clarification whether a forums user (the capacity in which you claim you made that thread) can say days/weeks after it was made and closed

“I’ve changed my mind about what I meant. Can the thread now be re-opened and can a UM please edit post #1 for me?”

I think one of the other UMs are best placed to answer this issues I’ve raised, as by acting in the way HR has his views are already known, bizarre as they are.
I understand your question/concern. To answer it directly, no it’s not right. Once a thread is closed it is customary to leave it closed. Just because we are UM’s and have the power to open/close edit/remove - does not give the right to do so if we want.

Admin did not say “open the thread again 2 weeks later” he said “make it appropriate”… and the only reason he said that was because he told Leigh to close the thread that was deemed inappropriate. You didnt like that approach because Leigh (emphasis on that) closed your thread. So, you went to admin crying and asked what you can do to open it again. Why it’s been opened again 2 weeks is beyond me. This whole interaction is inappropriate also, in my opinion. I will wait until @Inkandtatts replies for proper closure.

"Admin did not say “open the thread again 2 weeks later” he said “make it appropriate"

I have never said that and coming from you given your public forums posts its not surprising. you have just done the exact same thing Op has. Its non of your business at all, if i correct a thread, after finding out what needed to be done.

Take it to CM and close this thread- and keep your opinions out of it thank you.
