Questions

Pig ears sound rather nasty, just sayin' o.o

So.. I have two cats. One of these cats hates me. He runs at the sight of me, no joke.
Do you think there's a way to make this cat not hate my guts? D:

Why would you give your dog raw chicken? Chicken has the most bacteria, like ever. From what I heard, it's always meant to be boiled. It's the same with raw meats- they get bacterial infections like worms. 😎

And you're not meant to bathe your dog ALL the time. Dogs have coats that have natural oils, so they're meant to be bathed every month or so, but not all the damn time.

My aunt was a dog breeder. I know a few things about caring for dogs. Cooked chicken bones can shatter and cause cuts throughout the dogs digestive system. Uncooked bones however do not, it is safer. My dogs have been eating raw meat all their lives and they are fine.

Also I forgot about pigs ears. It's weird that they are fine for dogs to eat but any other part isn't. :dontknow:

And so do I. Who said anything about chicken bones? I don't feed my dogs chicken bones. I guess I should've made it more clear. One is meant to boil the chicken then take off the meat when it's done and dispose of the bones. Chicken bones, in general, can ruputure their digestive system.

I bath my dog once a month right before I give her flea and tick meds
I have to brush her every day hell I could do it 24/7 she sheds so much lol
I brush her teeth once a week and in the mean time she gets chew toys specifically to clean her teeth.

I feed her beneful healthy harvest
I do not used canned dog food < to many recalls
I make my own food for her
boiled chicken or steak, peas, barley or boiled potatoes

To keep her healthy we walk twice a day for at least a half hour each time
and of course she loves the ball and frisbee she just doesnt like bringing them back to you

over all shes very friendly with everyone
much like a kid she loves attention and will do anything to get it lol
only 2 people she really doesnt like and when she sees them she wants to eat their faces off but hey I feel the same way about them 😀

and you should never give dogs raw meat
they could get really sick not to mention worms
which they have to poison your dog just to get rid of them

owned like 4589034850349 dogs over the years, next im looking to get a wolf puppy next. had a hybrid before and a purebred(gray wolf)

also trying to convince my girlfriend to let me get another emperor scorpion but for some reason she's against it.

I had a dog. His name was Dano, and was a dalmatian but he died. It was probaly the longest darn lived dalmatian ever lived! Anyways after that we'd gotten a trained pomeranian and trained her for beauty contests. Won a lot, and guess whos second place dog was named? DANO!! Wht coincedence, right? But I love dogs!!! Cats im semi-allergic to, and i absolutely hate ANYTHING that crawls.

Since no one seems to actually have pointed out why you shouldn't give your pets food from a shelf at your local supermarket...

Cat and Dog biccies as well as canned/packet meats on the shelf and even those little cold meats in the frozen section

They are cheap, they're appealing, right? Of course.
Well, the reason they are so cheap is because they are NOT consistent.
The actual ingredients in the foods differ depending on what is in season.
i.e carrot might be cheap in September so they don't use celery or chicken might be expensive so they replace it with beef.

It's not that big of a deal but most animals do have some sort of intolerance to some foods and you usually won't find that out until you've already given your dog this food.

I mix Whiskers biccis with some Royal Canin. Royal Canin is great but expensive and will make the cat put on weight if they have too much.

It's fine to give your cat or dog some supermarket food every now and then, just like it's fine for us to eat McDonalds every now and then. Moderation is the key.

Balance your pet's diet, don't just feed it all the good stuff because 1. you might not be able to afford it one week 2. your animal may get sick of the food and then were do you go? and 3. Diet is only part of your pet's health.

This, this, this. Responsible pet owner right here.

Also, I think the real reason store-brand food is "bad" is because it contains byproducts, which basically means it's the leftover stuff/waste companies will not feed to humans. So, for example, a chicken byproduct would be the beak, the feet, the neck, etc. Some people have no problem feeding their pets that, or they simply don't know. Another reason is because it contains a lot of corn. Any intelligent vet will tell you that corn is difficult for dogs to digest, so if you're considering buying a new brand, read the ingredients so that you know it was no corn, or minimal corn. It's just ironic that some vets recommend a brand entitled, "Science Diet", because it contains a lot of corn. I'd personally stay away from it.

@ Sarah: Yeaaaaaaaah! Dals. :heartbeat How long did yours live till? My Spottie Dottie only lived till he was 12, because he developed cardiomegaly (enlargement of the heart).

There is a huge debate on whether or not to feed dogs raw foods. Some people do some people don't. I do they were raised to eat raw meat. We mix it with a small cup full of dry food and a spoonful of yoghurt. And every now and then they get a chicken wing or neck.

The wild dogs from which out domestic dogs where descendent didn't catch a rabbit and cook it.... they just ate it raw. It's natural. It's true what Jenna said dogs don't digest corn and grains well. Meat based foods are much better than grain based foods.

.

I had my dog on science diet then Iams
but they did so many recalls on the canned items I asked my vet what is the most natural thing I could give to her thats why I went with beneful

I haven't tried Beneful, but I have heard decent things about it.

One of my dogs is having a massive shedding problem right now and a flea problem. I used some spray on him earlier and then brushed him. The spray killed the fleas, but it smelled horrendous and I don't want anything too harsh on his skin. He stopped nibbling at his skin, which is good but does anyone know of anything else that could work? I don't want anything too harsh on his skin or that smells too bad, especially since he's tiny.

Edit: Anyone have any experience with K9 Advantix? I have a $5 off coupon, so I may resort to using that.
