On this day in 2014 at age 63, Jimi Jamison passed away from a hemorrhagic stroke at his home in Memphis, Tennessee. Jimi was best known as the charismatic lead singer of the band Survivor. The band had multiple hits but are probably best known for their mega hit Eye of the Tiger from the movie Rocky. He also co-wrote and performed the song “I’m Always Here” which was the theme song for the hit TV show Baywatch.
Jimi had a very distinctive voice that defined the late 80’s-90’s rock singer sound. And by all accounts he was a very down to earth, decent guy. When he wasn’t being a rock star he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
