I think this one is pretty self-explanatory.
Ok so basically there is a new feature with this update, with this feature you can just basically have your account shut off with nothing as much as a screen refresh. I was chatting for around 3-4 hours on "ghost" because mods were using it over and over to try and dictate chat with a feature the users are unaware existed.
Why is this a bad idea? Well first off you don't have anything to go off of when you are ghosted other then to log into a guest account quick enough to see if you've been ghosted or not. Second off this is a tool that is able to be used by moderators, why is that bad? Because this sit is oversaturated with moderators. since this feature has been added I have had to go back and forth between emails with chatmaster to get him to remove it and, then he told me that whenever I violated a rule I can get put on it, that's entirely way too much power for a moderator to have to be able to just cut you off like a guillotine from main chat without so much as warning, and for me? I was chatting for hours and hours 3-4 and I thought all of chat didn't like me, pms are shut down, your chats don't load but they appear to load on your screen, your pms appear to send but nothing is going through, I do see the positive side which is muting guest spammers which is kinda where I feel like it should stay. Like a guest only kind of thing, because it doesn't really make sense otherwise, why would you ghost a user that broke a rule like said a swear or something or that was doing something else that would require action and reconciliation. How would the user know what they did was wrong? How would they know what to do next time so it doesn't happen again? That's essentially removed with ghost unless a moderator decides to be good willed and @ you in main and tell you you're on ghost mode. So why not just mute and kick? We already have the system that automatically tells users about that
And that shows the timer and that has the correct system in place for it to be able to be protested, recorded accurately, and efficiently reflected upon, with ghost you, Firstly have to evade logging in as a guest to verify you are on it, secondarily you cannot record what happens to your account when it is launched onto your account because there is no system in place for it other then 100% stealth. So how would we know if it was being abused or unfairly used against users? I for one know I didn't do 3-4 hours worth of breaking rules, and how do you efficiently reflect on something you didn't even know happened to your account? You can't see the timer, you can't do anything except email chatmaster I'm pretty sure atm, so do we really want that to be the only way this can be dealt with? And even if he does do that, it can still be abused. In my case, he removed my ghost, he left chat, and then a little amount later a moderator logged on, decided he didn't like what he looked at, turned it back on, posted a religious quote, and then left chat for the night, are we gonna really just play the yes/no game with accounts? There isn't enough for you to know that you have received any punishment.
It doesn't even make sense cause why would you just want to sit and read chat and not be able to engage in it? That's what a mute is for, a kick is for someone who doesn't need to be in the room, we don't need a third option that just turns your account into a hollow shell for nobody knows how long and nobody knows why. So far the room I am using this feature has been abused by (some of) the moderators and have honestly just used it to single me (and a few others) out of chat because they don't like what we have to say. It's a very exclusionary and to be completely honest very easy to abuse and manipulate for secret control over the entire chat
I don't think it should be used on anything higher then a guest because that actually is a good idea for spammers, but people who talk in dead rooms, VIP and users or that are violation of a rule really shouldn't have to be kill streaked out of chat like it's a COD match or something, they should get a mute or a kick the way it's always been. Use it to fight spam, not turn chat into a private Utopia for you and your friends it reminds me of a similar broken feature which was a permanent mute. It's basically that on steroids.
