Revoke VPNS so mods can do their job

This is FEEDBACK about VPN usage in ALL CHATROOMS.
My SUGGESTION to revoke VPNS entirely, in all rooms, whether VIP or not.

Allowing guests to come in with VPNs and furthermure allowing VIPs to use VPN is contradictory to the act of moderating. Most users who use VPN do so to conceal their identity, and not for good reason. Most people in the chatrooms with concealed identities will ABUSE it because they have essentially no consequence.

This is not a user complaint but ill use this scenario as an EXAMPLE.

In video games chat we have this BANNED l user.

This user has been BANNED from videogamechat but comes in everyday under "guest" accounts. Our mods can not act on this guest because he is under an alternate IP/vpn. They say there is no proof this person is the BANNED user because of their concealed identity. This is essentially gives this BANNED user unlimited access to a room which he was already BANNED from. There will never be any "proof" because this harassing, racist, doxxer will never admit to being the banned user.

He whoever reveals himself through all his harassing context. It is so blatantly obvious this is the BANNED user becaues of his doxxing, flamboyant racism and derogatory remarks towards mexicans in the video games chatroom. Literally everyone can tell its him

And our mods are powerless against his abuse and pulling their hair.

Please do not tag killahazee as he is under family bereavement right now and doesnt need the added stress of dealing with the harassment from this BANNED user.

@Chatmaster can you do disable VPN usage so our moderators can do their job.

VPN should not be allowed. I see more nefarious uses than positive ones. Also the fact VIPs paying customers get away with more. Also allows some ball lacking admins to get away with being lazy and not doing their jobs to protect children. "The user is a vip, and I have not noticed any grooming behaviors" It just makes it appear that you actually support that activity. "When I was a kid , I would of killed to see some skin"

A vpn is essentially an unlimited get out of jail (kick) free card.

People dont break rules under their main accounts because their rulebreaking will be met with consequences.

People always break rules under guest accounts because even though the rulebreaking is met with consequences. They can log in with a new ip and just do it over and over again.

This burdens our volunteer moderators and makes them not want to moderate.

Is this why you double log and troll as a guest so you won’t be reprimanded on your main account?
 
I am not BANNED from videogameschat, why would i double log?

Thats why im at the top of leaderboard because im an active chatter, and not double logging like the BANNED guests.

VPN block would help stop spamming..I can see why some wouldn't want that .. shrugs
 
Kill guest accounts> Vpns become essentially useless
-People can still vpn but they have to register to catfish. Which takes time and energy. And extra hurdle against spamming and ip rolling.
Kill vpns> Guest accounts become useless.
-People can still guest but they are more normal people

If you were staff I'd walk you through step-by-step why this whole notion is wrong.

I would love for VPNs to be blocked sitewide though.

Almost impossible to achieve though. Existing VPN suppliers bring new servers and hence IPs online all the time. New VPN suppliers pop up as well. That's without the technically savvy creating their own.

Even if it were possible to block VPNs, rolling IPs is trivial to do. You'd end up with subnet blocks against ISPs which would penalise the innocent as well as the guilty. Let's not even get into the nightmare that CGNAT represents...

I dont see much point for suggestions when the people are vocal about what they want and chatmaster doesnt a thing about it

*Doxxing*- is the intentional sharing of personal information intended to harm another person, such as real names, home/work addresses, phone numbers, information from of social media etc It is not allowed in this room. Doxxing can result in a Ban.

Gen Chat rules. Other rooms have similar rules im sure.
