RIP Mike Ditka (1939-2026)

[TheDifference]

The legendary football player/coach/entrepreneur Mike Ditka died today at age 86. Known for his toughness on the field and his no nonsense style of coaching, Ditka was a larger than life personality. A great player, great coach and by all accounts, a great son, husband, father, and grandfather.

RIP “Da Coach” 🏈 🐻

Ditka was also known for his fiery, profanity laced press conferences and interviews. Below is a clip of some of the more entertaining ones 😆

He really was.

They better have a moment of silence at Lambeau this Sunday or there’s going to be serious trouble.

I was thinking the same thing.

He was old, but it still hit me hard. I watched this guy coach the Saints until 99, then watched him every Sunday on the FOX NFL panel. He gave the funniest press briefings. I practically remember one by heart.

REPORTER : "Mike, why are you in such a bad mood?"
MIKE DITKA : "Why do you care? If you were 2 and 7 you'd be in a bad mood too."
