Declain The Forgotten Realm, Destroy All Humans Meets Red Dead Redemption

Projects In The Works:

'The Stones' [working title]; an RP that deals with ten magic stones, created during the prior destruction and recreation of the Earth before Adam and Eve. An evil warlord has possession of nine of the ten stones, each holding their own power. A small group of people, have the stone, and have to reunite the stones in the jungles of South America to bring peace and eradicate evil from the world.

'Dreamscapes' [working title]; similar to the film 'Jumpers', but instead of being able to cross through portals into other parts of the world, these group of 'mutants', though appear to be human in every way, they can cross over into the dreamscape and see into the inner most fears and desires of every human being on the planet. Somewhat like a mental vampire concept, having to drain the essence of victims to survive.

'Palookaville' [working title]; a boxing RP, dealing with 1930's mobsters, TITLE BOUT software is used to create the fights that happen to your character.

I have a few other ideas as well. I want to do a RP on Clive Barker's Night Breed, in the near future---the whole concept of the city known as Midian, that is not on any map in the world, that is the gateway to the dreamscape, a sort of Limbo between Heaven and hell, where all the monsters and phantasms go---has always fascinated me.
 
That sounds right up my alley. Obligatory lol.
I think things are slowly getting more lively around here. I think Frosty much be a tad busy at the moment. I am sure he will return soon enough though.
 
We should have like a RP staff group, and discuss new RP ideas, you know? Where a team can make up a whole storyline, characters, even a map of the regions and cities, etc kind of like a World of Warcraft type of thing. A whole universe. Maybe, just maybe, most of the already surviving RP threads can be merged onto one map. And it could be even an interactive map, with links to each 'site', which would take you to that particular area, opening up the thread storyline, map of the area, characters, etc.

Be HUGE, be HARD, but would WORK!
 
Yes, but wouldn't that limit the amount of newbies coming here, and newbies are always a valuable asset. If only the people on the RP staff group were able to make RP's it wouldn't be fair to other joining roleplayers.
 
That's a good point. But I didn't think of it like that, I assumed we would be able to keep things open and welcoming to everyone.

I guess it would come down to one thing: would the finished work be something that a newbie would look at and see as a tool to learn more, or just as something really complicated, overwhelming and intimidating?
If it was the latter it would put people off.


It's a real shame, when reading through this thread it always depresses me to see how many profiles there are and where the hell are they?
I look over the older RPs and see that so many people got involved and now they're gone.
How could be bring them back? I mean I can't just leave messages for all of them saying "hey, wanna come back and RP again?" - it seems awkward.

I haven't even been here that long, either. I've only been a member of the forums since April last year. :/

I think it's intimidating to people. Especially because some people have different styles they RP with, which isn't there fault. Try being more patient with them, or for that matter anyone. I think the main problem is people come on here, try to join and RP, but are a little worried they're going to mess up, or think they're doing it wrong.

Let's try be a little more patient with people, and instead of saying "Hey, we don't RP like that here! You're doing it wrong!" just try and give them a push in the right direction so they feel welcome and eventually learn how things are done here.
 
Indeed. I do try to be. It's a shame some of them are stubborn or childish and take it as a personal insult even when we're kind about telling them.
Like anyone it's just taking the offensive to try and stop yourself from being vulnerable. No one likes to make mistakes and think people think they're stupid.

It is as Laura says, it is difficult to show people the way we RP without them getting defensive. This is unfortunate but maybe we could help people by walking them through it a little more, the only reason I know how to RP - as crappily as I do - is because of what I do is that Laura told me about it before I started.

Interests: Video games, comic books, horror movies, reading, writing, drawing, partying like it's 1999, violin, double bass, D&D, flash light tag, skateboarding. And I've recently developed an addiction to really good anime. No, Naruto doesn't count.
