Side rooms and rules regarding advertising

I was wondering what rules Admins or Mods have for advertising of side rooms in different rooms in the main chat. We have made side rooms for Members only and fully expect and welcome Moderators or Admins to pop in, the purpose is to have restricted room to provide a safer community.

We don't restrict them to VIP but we do have that extra layer to prevent the problem ********.

The rules that apply to the main room also apply to all the side rooms regardless of weather the side room are CA created or VIP created.
I do not like that answer. If the person, if my belief is correct, is responsible for the rooms content they should be allowed to regulate what is posted. So long as it is legal.

Rules are created by Admins in order to safeguard the health, safety, and integrity of both the room at large and the ******** in general.

If a member were able to circumvent rules simply by creating his or her own side room, this website would devolve to pure bedlam. I could imagine a side room where, for example, members start doxxing other members, simply because doing so isn’t ‘illegal.’ If they could do so with impunity… horrifying.

It’s understandable that some members would like to better curate the membership with whom they engage, but that shouldn’t come at the expense of inoculating side room owners from the main rules of their respective rooms.

My two pence, of course.

Not exactly what I was getting at. I was referring to the advertisement as asked about in the post. Like why wouldn't it be allowed for someone to say, Post their Etsy page or Pinterest? Maybe I'm missing the point of the original question/post.

Ah. Fair play. I understand “advertising of side rooms in different rooms” to mean something different, perhaps. Further, I responded to the idea that side rooms should, ostensibly in your view, operate under a different rubric, provided their rules aren’t illegal, as you say.

To the OP: I don’t know any room where it’s against the rules to advertise in the main channel that a side room exists. Most of the rules regarding advertising refer to the advertisement of other websites. That said, if your aim is to direct a good portion of the main room traffic (re: registered members, leaving the guests) to your side room, I imagine (if you’re successful) the Admin and the moderation staff may take issue—as they then would need to split their time and their coverage between two large rooms rather than one.

Again, my two pence. Take with a colossal grain of salt.

My two cents:
1. This really belongs in the “Suggestions, Comments and Feedback” section.

2. Obviously, the admins and CM have the final say here but if a member had a side room dedicated to pottery, I would not have an issue if they OCCASIONALLY posted in the main chat “Hey, I have a side room for all things pottery, come check it out”.

3. As said, the main chat room rules also apply to the side rooms as well.

4. I don’t believe the OP was asking about posting advertising for outside sites in the side room. But if they were, I’d say that would be a no, based on the main chat room rules.
✌️

Advertising your side room is allowed in the chat you’ve created the side room for ~

You’re in control of what happens in that side room
you can create staff in that side room also

You ain’t allowed to break any of the set rules listed for that room however.

One of the mod rules from cm states mods must remain in the main room at all times (unless asked by a member to pop in or there’s another mod on)

This doesn’t mean that we can’t come see what’s going on to make sure rules are followed 🙏

But yes you can redirect people to your side room with no issues

This is one advantage of being vip 🙏

The reason I raised it is see what the Admins think. See I would be happy to outline with my Admin the intent of the room as a process for transparency, as a part of VIP membership side rooms are included which provides the ability moderate these side rooms and determine all, members or VIP. The real question is advertising of side rooms in the main chat. which has never been addressed.

Youre allowed to say "Hey I have a side room open, does anyone want to join?". Ive never been told otherwise by CM. If he doesnt like it, then he will make us aware.

It’s allowed we’ve had side rooms in bc of upto 30+ people before they were doing their own thing pretty much

We’d pop in and out fast to make sure stuff was fine and go back and continue with main.
