I pushed open the door of my office, marched across the car park- excited to get home until I heard a faint sound coming from the bushes.

I looked up, down, left and right but saw nothing as I stood in anxious silence awaiting the revelation of whatever was lying in wait for me.

The air felt thick as I held my breath for what seemed like an eternity waiting for something, anything to put a ripple in the quiet fog – then suddenly it happened.

He stepped out from behind the bushes, bloodied and bruised as my mind raced trying to piece together every big of evidence I could see before me.

The fog in my mind suddenly lifted and the poor squirrel, blood running from his nose and with only a bruised ego, was dazed but not phased in his continuing search for the day’s nut-filled feast.

The squirrel's eyes swelled with uncertainty as he reached out a single hesitant paw towards the gift I held before him.

The little sh*t, ignoring the gift bit my ring finger clean off and, before I could survey the damage or even reduce the flow of blood, my eyes observed the real threat that lay in wait behind the bushes.

As the squirrel scampered away with my finger in its clutches, the experience seemed like a distant memory as time slowed and this monstrosity rose before me, enveloping me in darkness as its body eclipsed the sun.

Gulping loudly.. I take a small step backwards and move to gaze upon its face, it’s nostrils flaring and the breeze making my hair whisper against my neck I gasp and say..

"Oh hell no, not today Satan." I make a 180° and break out into a sprint – one arm wrapped firmly around my briefcase, the other loosening my tie – I beeline towards my car trying desperately to find myself outside the looming shadow of this treacherous beast.

I press the fob and hear a car unlock behind me.. in the direction I was originally heading… because that’s where my car was.

With a stare that pierces straight through my soul, he sees right through me as my eyes remain locked with his. I can't move, can't breathe, can't budge – I stand there frozen in place for what seems like an eternity as the last traces of air escape my lungs.

I enter the car, struggling to catch my breath as the fart I released in the car has managed to ferment in the air. The fumes from poo particles prevent me from breathing and I pass out as if I connected a tube from my muffler into my car.

I awake in a daze. Unsure if I am alive or dead, I reach to turn the car on.

As I put the car in drive, the beast lifts my car in its side.

I tumble out of my seat landing face first onto the passenger window, scrambling to find something to grab ahold of as the car elevates farther and farther into the clouds.
