What is your best summer you had ?

One summer I was camping with a group I normally hike and climb with. The organisers hired a bouncy castle for the night, so being the the youngest there I had the bouncy castle to myself for over an hour. just after dinner an ice cream van came on to the campsite ended up with the biggest bowl of ice cream ever , that evening the adults turned the campsite in a music fest with laser lights , party didn't end until the sun rose , was one of the best weekends away I had

I'd have to say the last trip I took to Destin, Florida. My aunt raised me through me teen years, every summer we went to Destin. Always end of summer, rates were lower and less people. The last trip we took, it was a week later than usual and it was kinda a ghost town. However, it made me feel like it was just me and her with paradise to ourselves. Just a quiet paradise for 2 weeks. It was the most relaxing time in my entire life. Memories I will treasure forever.

The first summer I had with my kids post-divorce. There had been some emotional and mental abuse from my ex before that, and it had spilled onto the kids (the final straw). After the divorce was over, we began to re-balance the relationship and the new normal was so much better. Everything was more fun, even things like cooking, cleaning and chores. We didn't have a lot of money that summer (still don't) but the memories are still fantastic. So many "best days" collected in that summer.

My first Alpine climbing experience in 2023 culminating in climbing the Walker Spur of the Grandes Jorasses. 1200 metres of hard mixed climbing from the French side and a walk off into Italy. Awesome fun! 😁

The first summer after my dad passed I was 10 years old. Mom and I were both still a big mess like all the time (this gets better soon I promise) and I would just go sit in dad's shed and be sad. Then my auntie shows up. I had met her once on a trip to the Philippines but I didn't really know her. My auntie is insane in a good way. Think Southern Charm or Fifi but brown a normal height. She was a whirlwind of joy and weirdness, forced mom and me to get in the car and do a road trip to San Francisco. We went up and down Highway 101 and stopped a lot to just go look at the ocean-dad and I did that all the time-and cry and giggle and omg I learned how to go shoe shopping!!! Auntie stayed with us for a few years then moved to Canada (poor Canada). That summer with mom and auntie taught me how to grieve, how to giggle, how to realize life is ok. Plus shoes. OMG the shoes I own now. The end.
