Coming out of some threads relating to the bible, it got me thinking:

Should the bible have an age rating and if so what should it be? At what age should people be exposed to the bible?

I G00gled and there are lots of opinions on it. A summary that someone else posted online is quite interesting to sum up some key issues in the bible that might be thought to be unsuitable for certain ages:

  • A man and woman standing in nakedness and shame, blaming each other for what they did wrong.
  • An angry and envious man, lures his brother into a field, brutally murders him, and then tries to cover it up.
  • The world becomes so corrupt and violent that God decides to virtually wipe out the human population and start over.
  • Noah gets drunk, and one of his son dishonors him by committing an immoral act in his father’s bedroom.
  • Abraham twice tries to pass his wife off to another man to save his own skin. Later, his son Isaac does the same thing.
  • Abraham sleeps with one of the household servants so he can have an heir. This was his wife’s idea, but she becomes so jealous after it happens, that she angrily throws the woman and her son out of house to live in poverty and shame.
  • Lot offers to let a violent mob assault his daughters. Lot’s daughters later get their own father drunk and sleep with him so that they can have children.
  • Jacob, Isaac’s son, is a deceitful mama’s boy who tricks his father and brother out of important family legal rights. He has to run away from home so his brother won’t kill him.
  • He goes to work for his ruthless uncle, who keeps him in virtual slavery for decades. Jacob escapes by tricking him and running away.
  • Jacob’s wives live in constant jealousy and competition, continually tricking Jacob and each other in an ongoing battle for supremacy in the family.
  • Jacob’s sons loathe one of their brothers, sell him into slavery, then lie to their father and tell him he died.
  • Jacob’s daughter Leah is sexually assaulted. Her brothers exact revenge by deceiving and then murdering the perpetrator, destroying and looting his city, and taking all his family members captive.
  • Judah refuses to find a husband for his widowed daughter-in-law, Tamar. So she disguises herself as a prostitute, tricks her father-in-law into sleeping with her, and becomes pregnant.

- Babies and children are killed multiple times, I've posted in the bible verses threads here instances of this
- Two young women are sent out to be r*ped and assaulted, and in reply to this, they sleep with their own father.

People initiate their BABIES into this before they get given a choice, they teach this text in school to kids too young to differentiate between what is right and wrong... 100% it should have an age limit and 100% it should not be something children are introduced to.

putting an age limit on the bible, in & of itself is blasphemy…

baptisms, christenings, confirmations, & communions are all supposed to be done in your infancy, your youth before youre able to sin to relinquish u of the original sin youre born with…

age limits would deprive christians of that religious right 🤌🏻

dont tread on me, communists

peace,
god-bless 🕊️🕊️

Babies are full of sin? But abortion is killing an innocent being, isn't it????

So which one is it? Am I going to give birth to a sinner, or to an innocent?
Am I going to baptise a sinner, or abort a potential evil?

So what they're saying effectively is their argument for being anti abortion is pointless since babies are evil... Their argument for being anti contraceptive is also defunct given using contraception stops the birth of evil spawns, and we're not meant to welcome evil inside of us... But God made no mistakes in his creations so he purposely created evils... Okay, think I've got it.

God hates his children, but expects his children to love him.

And if you don't pay him enough attention he'll torture you for eternity too

Exodus 21:22-25 implies that fetuses are property, not actual people, also, biblically speaking life begins at birth/first breath, so not at conception... Which again ruins their whole defence. There's also a verse about it being okay for a man to cause miscarriage if he suspects the baby isn't his.

And if you don't pay him enough attention he'll torture you for eternity too

More stupid stuff to teach our children before they can decide to not live by the word of God:
- Don’t eat animals with split hooves (11:4–7)
- Don’t eat animals that don’t have fins and scales (11:9–10)
- Don't eat neither fat nor blood (3:17)
- Don’t mate two different kinds of animals (19:19)
- Don’t plant two different kinds of seed in your field (19:19)
- Don’t wear clothing made from two different types of fabric (19:19)
- Don’t trim off hair at your temples (19:27)
- Don't buy a house (25:23)
- Don’t trim your beard (19:27)
- Don't sit next to or where a menstruating woman has sat, lest you be unclean too (15: 19-21)
- Don't drink wine in church (10:9... Uh what?)
- If a man r*apes a young virgin and is discovered he has to pay her 50 sheckles, marry her, and never divorce her (22:28- 29)
- Women should be silent in church (14:34)
- Men should not cover their head but women should (11:4-5)

And before anyone argues "but the new testament!!"

Matthew 5:18:
"For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished."

No, there's no going against the first testament. Old testament still stands. Jesus wasn't heaven and earth. He never mentions only the 10 commandments now only stand.

But sure, kids should be taught this. Nothing says well adjusted child like marrying your daughter off to her r*pist or calling her dirty for menstruating. And your son having a diet of barely anything definitely grows a strong, strapping lad dressed in a burlap sack because everything is now mixed materials, basically.

Okay, re:user message I actually think that was one of the most level discussions we've had on the site in a long while tbh. Just the wrong thread, potentially. Nobody was name calling, nobody was being nasty 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think it may have been the other two arguments going on at the same time

Valid point lol, I was flossing over them
I tried to reply to your post with

"This. I don't agree with everything in the whole of the LGBTQ+ community, either, I don't agree with everything my own mother believes... But I've also argued against those things in real life and on the forums in the past. I outright said I think puberty blockers are wrong and therapy etc is a better move before people come of age, I've openly said I don't agree with the likes of Sam Smith being allowed to twirl round in nipple tassels on TV when nicki minaj would be berated for it etc 🤷🏼‍♀️"

But it had been closed 😭😭

Thank @Moose. I was on my way to send @Apollo an angry PM before I was reminded I’m not the centre of the universe
