The Yes/No Game

Yes. It's sort of refreshing that it does. Social media is pretty focused on people you know (groups aside). I actually don't like most social media anyway. I mostly use it to let friends know what's happening and to arrange things with them.

Do you have a preference for one social platform?

No, not anymore. I used to really like twitter because it was a cross section of infosec and local for me. when it went to hell i tried mastadon, bluesky, threads...the problem is that threads and bluesky are too local and mastadon because of the server i picked is too infosec...instagram/facebook are broken timeline feeds...i use snapchat a lot but that's more of a messenger...and tiktok a lot but don't create content or comment/message...just consume.

do you ever wonder what it was like before all the interconnectivity?

Sometimes I do. I'm happy without it at least for shortish periods. We had a power cut this afternoon for a few hours and I just curled up in front of our log burner with a book. Bliss lol

Do you read much?

no, not so much. Not books anyways. I used to read a lot but I don't have the focus anymore. It's like gaming...too single tasking for me. I end up reading a lot of new, tech blogs, conversations, security content, etc to keep my mind sharp on reading...but not books....despite working at a library for 7 years.

do you listen to podcasts?

Yes, but...podcasts and audiobooks for me are a car thing. Cause it passes the time...any other time i'm doing too many other things to want to listen

do you sent postcards when you travel?

I don't...anymore...i think the last time i wrote one was back in the late 90s when my computer blew up...i had to write letters to my friend in Tel Aviv. We met in a chat room and we've been friends since.

Do you write fiction?

Yes...and it changed every few months. I ultimately couldn't decide what i wanted to spend any amount of post secondary education where it didn't feel like i was wasting money or time...so i just didn't. It worked out...in the end.

Do you have your parental support?

My Mum supports everything I do. Her boyfriend taught me to climb properly and supports my choices too so aye I have plenty of support.

Did you get plenty of support?

Given, yes. Took? Not always. My parents supported me in so much that they provided me with a place but it came with a lot of judgment for not going to school after graduating. To this day my mom insists that I go back to school....when I'm at a point in my career where no schooling would cover the niche market i work in.

does post school education involve moving for you?

Yes. Well, I work from home with flexibility to work from anywhere as long as I'm working within this timezone's business hours. Some of my trips are working holidays where I go and work from where ever i'm visiting. The next goal is to work asynchronous so that the timezone doesnt matter...it's the work getting done. Go contract you say? no thanks...i don't relish at the idea of chasing work. This way i'm fully billable and just produce results when I get it done, regardless where in the world i am.

do you plan to move countries?

Yes, legally. There's a lot of legal issues that come about from AI. It was never anything discussed by SciFi because the utopian futures they wrote about didn't have much greed in the way AI capitalists do now.

have you played with AI much?
