There seems to be a mockery and conflict of interest

There seems to be little if any action taken against users here. The same people everyday repeating and reposting obscene things. Ive messaged the moderators and the admin. The mods that are there seem to come around once every 3-4 days and stick around for no longer than 10 minutes. Nobody ever seems to get kicked or muted except bots.

Today i reported another users obscene behavior while our admin was in the room. In fact its the same user ive been reporting for several days now. But today I didnt even need to, because another user named @LostCause whom im told is also a prior moderator was criticizing his lack of action on the chat. The admin finally gave the user a mockery of a "warning" like the type you would give a 3 year old child.

Not 1 hour after the admin left the same user started posting a bunch of obscene content about terrorist organizations like Isis, watching prn, masturbating, beheadings and gore. It was reported to a mod that stepped in and against dismissed with a warning. As is evident by the user himself, he knows he will get away with it. This is a room for 13 year olds.

Now im assigning this complaint because for the past few weeks Ive been reporting the same people daily and its like no one cares about having a safe room. Ive seen pornography posted about a dozen times since i joined and those same people are still in chat. Why? only the moderators seem to know. There seems to be an obvious conflict of interest in here particularly because the admin of our room also happens to moderate the forums here.

How is this an acceptable form of overseeing and holding people in charge accountable?

Yesterday i saw another thread where the admin told the person reporting and doing the right thing "trolls are obviously trying to piss you off and you are falling for it, because you didnt ignore them you are being punished". What kind of moderation is this?

i dont think talking about incest while the admin is in chat is something to be sarcastic about. Or thereby his lack of moderating it. If she truly does find this a sarcastic nuance then thats probably the reason she is no longer a moderator. Judging from how the rest of the chat is being moderated, its not surprising.

@LostCause. is a moderator in another room on this site and is a very good one. I very much doubt Lost was paying attention to anyone else, maybe they even had that individual blocked and couldn’t see the posts. It’s more likely that the sarcasm was aimed at one of our previous admins threat were friendly with. You know what they say about those that assume.

Last time I said the mods log in once every week and was given the answer "our mods volunteer so they cant always be there to moderate".
If this user can be typing obscene things 24 hours a day surely we can find someone competent enough to moderate the chat, devoting a couple of minutes per day.

@LostCause. is a moderator in another room on this site and is a very good one. I very much doubt Lost was paying attention to anyone else, maybe they even had that individual blocked and couldn’t see the posts. It’s more likely that the sarcasm was aimed at one of our previous admins threat were friendly with. You know what they say about those that assume.

Isnt a "rule" of being a "moderator", that they cant moderate anywhere else? If so why doesnt the same thing apply to admins? Im probably going to receive some smart response about how an "admin is not a moderator" when they clearly share the same duties. Its clearl our admin isnt fit for duty if hes allowing this type of behavior to slide or not replacing moderators that are inactive in the chat.

LostCause doesn’t moderate anywhere else. She only mods Gay Chat. No rule stopping them from chatting in other rooms especially a room she transferred from.

I am making a suggestion, giving comments and feedback like the header of this forum implies.

The person named lostcause was only used an example to show im not the only one seeing this, thereby backing my statements. If it isnt apparent, people who are breaking rules are doing so everyday, even under the supervision of the admin and of moderators. Ive reported several users doxxing, sending and posting pornography several times. They dont get so much as a mute.

So clearly "something" isnt working or like the person above implies "mods are trolls, just like us". That is the mockery

The conflict of interest is the system put in place here. Which is the admin being here policing the very complaints that happen in his/her room. He/she should admin the room or admin the forums but not both. It is the equivalent of me judging my own score at the olympics.

I’m always late to the party and I’ve requested a UM unlock this thread momentarily so I have an opportunity to reply to the thread made surrounding me. Thank you everyone who tagged me and spoke on my behalf in this thread @MissMotive @Luka.

To be very clear, I was in no way criticizing the actions of @Apollo. He’s both my former admin and my friend, and my comments to him were made in jest. He is a more than capable admin and does a fine job enforcing the rules. He is also a chatter, same as myself, and having a friendly banter isn’t against the rules (as much as you might like it to be).

Utilize the report feature if there is a rule break in the room whilst no staff are present. Volunteer staff cannot be held accountable for not addressing rule breaks while they are not physically present to address them.

I wasn’t talking about incest, being sarcastic regarding it, or breaking any rules at any point – and you’re more than welcome to scroll to all eternity to confirm that. So I’m not sure exactly what you’re attempting or failing to say here. I’m not a moderator in VGC because I resigned in good standing to transfer to Gay Chat.

There are seven moderators in VGC and one admin. If every staff member devoted “a couple of minutes per day” to volunteering their time to moderate the chat, that would still leave the majority of hours unattended. Even if they each volunteered more than a couple of minutes and devoted half an hour of their lives each day to be there, that still leaves 20 out of 24 hours uncovered. Chat Avenue relies on unpaid volunteer staff to moderate the rooms, and the feedback you were given before of “our mods volunteer so they cant always be there to moderate” is accurate.

This is a rule for all staff members – Chat Avenue staff cannot be staff on any other chat site concurrently to being staff on Chat Avenue. As @Luka said, I don’t moderate anywhere else and neither does @Apollo. So again, I have no idea what you’re attempting or failing to say here.

Kindly don’t use me as an example because I am very much not backing any of your statements. Again, I was talking to my former admin and friend in jest. Me chatting with a friend and obeying every rule of the room has no implication of anything beyond that.

If it’s a complaint about me not abiding by the rules in VGC, use the report feature to report any rule breaks I make in the room – I am confident you will find none.
