Nirvana had the media circus behind them. They weren’t bad, but they wouldn’t have been as big if it weren’t for that factor.

I’d rank the big 4 of grunge: Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, STP

Layne Staley has better vocal range then Kurt Kurt sounded good but Layne voice was more powerful could sing really well they where more metal like then grudge

Music is extremely subjective and it is an annoyance when people compare musicians and rank them against their peers.

Every voice, every instrument, every melody is going to speak or be interpreted differently by each listener.

The story that the artist is telling is going to be interpreted differently by the audience, the emotions conveyed will impact the audiences differently.

I'd have to agree. Though to be fair where I live, Nirvana was SO overplayed back in the day its hard for me to like them at all anymore. Maybe my opinion is a little bias on that, so.
