Trailblazing Lesbian Women

I thought as I am now in Lesbian Chat I would start a thread on great Lesbians in history I will start with Rosalie 'Rose' Bamberger was a founding member of the Daughters of Bilitis organised for Lesbian Rights formed back in 1955. The first meeting was at Bamberger’s house in 1955, which she shared with her partner Rosemary Sliepen. The private club became The Daughters of Bilitis and morphed into the first lesbian rights group in the United States.

Sally Ride

The first American woman and the third woman ever to go to space, flying on the Challenger in 1983, Ride was also the first known LGBTQ+ astronaut. She spent 27 years with her partner Tam O'Shaughnessy (and when President Obama bestowed Ride with a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom, O'Shaughnessy accepted the award). After leaving NASA, Ride served as director of the California Space Science Institute. She also strove to help women and girls who wanted to study STEM subjects, working with science programs and authoring children's books. She was immortalized as a Barbie in 2019.

I would have to say Leslie Feinberg, writer of Stonebutch Blues. A novel full of autobiographical references with a connection to the daughters of Bilitis as part of the socialist workers movement.

Rachael Ann Maddow(born April 1, 1973) is an American television news program host and political commentator. Maddow hosts The Rachel Maddow Show, a weekly television show on MSNBC, and serves as the cable network's special event co-anchor. Maddow holds a bachelor's degree in public policy from Stanford Universityand a doctorate in political science from the University of Oxford and is the first openly lesbian anchor to host a major prime-time news program in the United States.

Thumper71
Yes, I remember him. The last time I was on the Forum, it was precisely because of him: regarding the power trip, the abuses, and the lies in the reports. The girls in the room complained, but nothing was done. Some moderators tried to help, like mod Chelly.
It's interesting to note that Thumper71 had been harassing me in the room for weeks. I stayed silent, but eventually, I got tired and decided to take action. I reflected a lot on what I was doing: was it a quest for justice or a petty revenge driven by a wounded ego? Because the line between revenge and justice is very thin. We need to be careful not to be petty. In a moment of doubt, I changed my vote in the Forum poll. I talked about forgiveness and the importance of not expecting perfection from anyone, since we are all imperfect. I belie that everyone deserves a second chance. However, right after the voting, Thumper71 returned to abuse the girls in the room. His actions spoke for themselves, and eventually, he fell.
Recently, the story repeated itself. Again, a moderator was abusing his power against several girls. When these situations become recurrent, people lose faith in the possibility of change. The lesbian room has turned into a desolate space, with many people deleting their accounts out of frustration.
This experience made me realize that sometimes it’s not about revenge, but rather about a recognition that never comes. The side that wields power is often incapable of apologizing or acknowledging mistakes. When that doesn’t happen, resistance and the quest for justice become inevitable. After all, when injustice becomes the norm, resistance turns into a duty. Anyway, it doesn't matter anymore.

To stay on topic, Judith Butler.
