UM Thread Closing

When closing a thread, shouldn't the UM closing it be a different UM than an Administrator from a room who's taking care of an issue? For example, if there's an Adult Mobile issue and Obscure responds, shouldn't they tag the other UMs for closure?

Thanks ahead of time for setting me straight if I'm mistaken here. I know it's probably a pain to not be able to close your own threads. I'm checking because I've seen it mentioned on the forum in the past and wasn't sure if it needed to be brought up again since we have new additions. Isn't that a thing so a second person verifies? 🍰

for the record i have no reason to believe any of the current um's aren't completely above board and doing anything wrong or untrustworthy. except for @Inkandtatts .....him i'm keeping an eye on

Spoken like someone who truly believes it should be the case! It's okay since they could just reopen it and respond anyway, right? 😉

But seriously, I was just curious if it was a rule or if it was assumed best practice. And I know basically everyone knows more than I do about it, so I brought it up in a way assuming it was just a wrong assumption from observation. No worries!
 
If I tag Leigh, Lis or Obscure to close my threads they’d close them, just like I would if they asked me to close any of theirs so I don’t see the benefit of asking someone else to do what I could do myself.

I’d follow the same process as Leigh mentioned above.

If UMs were required to independently investigate each other’s room issues then that would be a different story.

On that note @Apollo can you close this please and also ban @rapinoes smirking revenge for Mod Abuse? Thank you
 
On topic, the only reason I don’t think UM’s should close their own room complaint/ban appeal threads is simply because sometimes they’ve shut it down early and have been wrong.

Plus it’s common knowledge if it happens, more threads with the favouritism etc starts.

I always think it’s good to have a second pair of eyes to review and it should be a given that when the room admin responds with the reason for ban (or whatever the thread topic) the user should get to respond- same goes for admins who aren’t UM’s. Clearly thread by thread basis ofc
