Vintage Wallets Question: Seeking Advice on Care and Preservation

Hi everyone,

I recently came across a few vintage wallets in an estate sale, and I’m curious about the best way to care for them. They’re in decent condition, but some of the leather feels a little stiff, and the stitching on one of them is starting to show wear.

Does anyone have tips for restoring or preserving vintage wallets without damaging them? I'm particularly concerned about maintaining their value while keeping them functional. If anyone has experience with cleaning or storing vintage wallets,

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Older leather wallets can be tricky to care for, but a good leather conditioner helps soften them up without causing damage. I’ve used mink oil on vintage leather items, and it does a great job at keeping them supple. For stitching, if it’s coming loose, I’d avoid DIY fixes unless you’re confident, you don’t want to mess with the integrity of the wallet.

If you like vintage leather pieces, you might enjoy browsing through Coach bags. They have a great collection of timeless styles, and their leather quality holds up really well over time. You can check out different styles here: https://coach-bags.co.uk/
