Sir
I recently bought VIP membership in order to chat with friends and play music in my own room as afforded with lifetine membership.

However after making room sbd returning a little over 2hours later No Room !, yes I fully understand if a room is not used for 24hrs it disappears but 2 hours ?

I have made it several times only to come back and no room, yet there are rooms on the room list with no one in them yet. They remain on the rooms list.

Can I ask what the purpose of VIP MEMBERSHIP is if we can not have our own room! On the sister site rooms remain even if no one is in them !

With Thanks

I'm not often the voice of dissent but I don't agree that it's sus to have an alt account or that people are suddenly deprived of the ability to chat when they get a mod badge. Nobody is paid to mod; we're all volunteers drawn from ********.

Personally I wouldn't have an alt account solely to chat on. I've had them and it's impossible to ignore the sh*t that goes on in the room so I'd just return to my mod account

It isn't against the rules either, at least in our room. There was a thread about this issue in Lesbian Chat (a mod was on her alt account then jumped to her mod account to kick some pedos, if I recall correctly) and Chopper commented in that thread that he sees no problem with mods having alt accounts.

@ArChAnGeLs you might want to clarify with your Admin that you're allowed to have an alt account although they presumably already know about it.

On your original issue of the side rooms disappearing, I would guess that smaller rooms might allow the side rooms to stay there longer but in the bigger rooms I can see why they delete quickly if they're not used.

Mystic Meg reckons this thread might disappear soon 👀

I think it’s fine for mods to have a normal account too. It’s like seeing you friend when they’re off of work. Like when I see @rapinoes smirking revenge when she’s not working at McDonalds and can’t just give me free cheeseburgers out the window. It’s not as good, but I guess I’ll take it. She better make up for it next time she’s at the drive thru though looking all cute in her little visor and uniform. I hope she gets to be Manager again someday. Don’t let your dreams be dreams, Rapi.

it simply may be that cm hasnt got wind of it yet. but the 2nd account rule is directly from the cm account. a 2nd account would get you removed and banned. if you were sitting in the room without logging in to mod then why are you a mod. not only are you taking a spot on the mod list, which can at sometimes be very limited, you dont have access to reports, and you are not known to the "newbies" to the room who need to report something. it is also hearsay if you use info from your non modded account to act on your modded account. mods can find a way to "chat with friends and listen to music" at the same time that they are there to click buttons. 2 accounts lead to asshatery and most times trolling ( seen this happen). and it is common when a mod is done and wants to go out on a drama high they use the 2nd to post mod related info. ( this can happen anyway on a mod account) but its way more easier when double logged with a 2nd account. this way their mod account is free of anything, to be hired in another room ( again seen it happen). most who do not see an issue, havent seen an issue. those usually are the same ones that ban a mod after they quit/are fired. (which is also a wtf are you doing thing but thats for another thread). KIDS chat and only kids chat were the exception and that was after months of threads and pms to cm to act upon that. you want users to trust and respect mods and 2nd accounts undermine that. this follows along the lines like a workplace... you cant have 2 keycards/passwords you also cant work for a competing company. voluntary or not they arent that hard to follow.

/im done. do what you want after all the place has turned into a free for all.

if you were sitting in the room without logging in to mod then why are you a mod.
Same as working in a pub and going there after work for a drink but I wouldn't hear, "If you were sitting in the bar without being behind it, why are you a barman?"

My modding commitment is 5hrs across a week. There was a point where I was modding up to 5hrs a day and then sometimes logging in using a non-mod account to chat. If the room got too crazy, I'd ditch the down-time and log back in and mod.

It's impossible to chat and mod in a room where you're consistently getting around 1,000 ******** a time. Yeah, clearing flags is a piece of piss while chatting but you can't room watch and chat unless you're in a small room or a room that's only frequented by bots.

Being double logged is a little different and is dodgy. You can't be logged in to 2 accounts at the same time, the same as a barman shouldn't be drinking on the job.

I’ve had mods that had alt accounts. They were usually fired since they were on it more than their actual mod account. Only reason they had them was because at certain times the room is overmodded and I had a rule that max 3 mods can be logged in at one time. So they went on their alts. Generally this is actually rare to see mods with alts. I and mods have however used bait accounts we had to do some undercover work.

I don’t think there’s any reason mods should have alt accounts to chat. Especially adult chat. Where every mod that’s available should be modding.

You are also able to do all the vip features and all that with a mod account?

it is possible to mod and chat. even in busy rooms. even when clearing flags even when theres 1000 users. even when checking cams.

you dont feel comfortable with it and thats fine. but it is possible.

I find this to be a bit shortsighted. Following your logic, if a person is a Chat Ave moderator, any time they log into the site the only thing they should be doing is moderating. They can’t go to forums. They can’t visit other rooms. They can’t chat with their friends. Moderators are users too and some of them enjoy partaking in other things this site offers. Again, based on your logic, you shouldn’t be here commenting. You should only be in your room moderating. Also, not allowing moderators to do other things on the site drives down the numbers of users of the site which reduces the revenue 🤔 💰
Full Disclosure: I don’t have any other accounts here. I don’t have friends here. I don’t go to chat in other rooms. I only come here to moderate and address kick/ban appeals (and occasionally get sucked into other threads when someone is being dumb or abusive) 🤓

I guess I should have worded it differently. It's impossible to mod properly in a room like that while chatting on the side, because you're not giving your full attention to the room and imo shouldn't be logged in to your mod account.

@TheDifference you have a point there too

I didn’t see her say any of that. Just that she believes a mod shouldn’t have an alt account in the room they mod

I hate to disagree with you (ever), but I think it's this bit that @TheDifference picked up on
every mod that’s available should be modding.

So GTFO forums and get in College Chat before you get spanked

Let me summarize what you said in bullets to see if I get you @purplerose

•CM said alt accounts are against rule for mod
• Mods with alt accounts are taking up space and positions should be given to people who do the
•Mods can chat with friends while clearing reports and answering questions
• Mods can leak internal info on alt account and use them to troll
• Mods with alt acc are unreliable and untrustworthy

I could tell what you said is based on personal experience as an admin of 10+ years. Though you brought up valid concerns, I cannot see eye to eye with you.

Before I make my point let me define the words below:
Job: Paid position of employment
Employment: Having paid work
Volunteer: A person who offers to do a task for free.

Mods on chat avenue volunteer to take on the task of answering questions and clean up the trash.

Every mod on here has an agreed upon min hours per week they are expected to mod. Everything over the min they have to work is overtime.

Understandably, some mods use alt accounts to troll and share internal info.

Mods who put in the min amount of work expected of them and want to come here as a VIP or user are not the problem.

Mods should be allowed to have fun and chat too. Lots of mods here have friendships they want to maintain. Having a convo with an friend when you're being pulled in all directions reading the main chat, clearing reports and answering questions is hard. Mods shouldn't put their friendships on here on the back burner. When you put all your free time in modding you become burnt out your friendships suffer. Everyone is here to enjoy themselves some people just choose to volunteer some of their free time to mod.
tl;Dr: Modding is not a job. It's a task you agreed to do for x hours a week. Mods are here to have fun too.
