Sir
I recently bought VIP membership in order to chat with friends and play music in my own room as afforded with lifetine membership.

However after making room sbd returning a little over 2hours later No Room !, yes I fully understand if a room is not used for 24hrs it disappears but 2 hours ?

I have made it several times only to come back and no room, yet there are rooms on the room list with no one in them yet. They remain on the rooms list.

Can I ask what the purpose of VIP MEMBERSHIP is if we can not have our own room! On the sister site rooms remain even if no one is in them !

With Thanks

You guys and gals are all missing the most important point of all here…that is, being so bitchy and unlikeable that no one would even think of asking you to be a mod in the first place. What’s so hard to understand about this?!?! Then you can just shitpost to your heart’s delight and annoy all the “responsible people” that have no choice but not ignore you. Duh.

Let me summarize what you said in bullets to see if I get you @purplerose

•CM said alt accounts are against rule for mod
• Mods with alt accounts are taking up space and positions should be given to people who do the
•Mods can chat with friends while clearing reports and answering questions
• Mods can leak internal info on alt account and use them to troll
• Mods with alt acc are unreliable and untrustworthy

I could tell what you said is based on personal experience as an admin of 10+ years. Though you brought up valid concerns, I cannot see eye to eye with you.

Before I make my point let me define the words below:
Job: Paid position of employment
Employment: Having paid work
Volunteer: A person who offers to do a task for free.

Mods on chat avenue volunteer to take on the task of answering questions and clean up the trash.

Every mod on here has an agreed upon min hours per week they are expected to mod. Everything over the min they have to work is overtime.

Understandably, some mods use alt accounts to troll and share internal info.

Mods who put in the min amount of work expected of them and want to come here as a VIP or user are not the problem.

Mods should be allowed to have fun and chat too. Lots of mods here have friendships they want to maintain. Having a convo with an friend when you're being pulled in all directions reading the main chat, clearing reports and answering questions is hard. Mods shouldn't put their friendships on here on the back burner. When you put all your free time in modding you become burnt out your friendships suffer. Everyone is here to enjoy themselves some people just choose to volunteer some of their free time to mod.
tl;Dr: Modding is not a job. It's a task you agreed to do for x hours a week. Mods are here to have fun too.
Very well said 👏🏻 👏🏻
Another thing that some of the “older” ex-staff may not be considering is that things change. Rules change. Perspectives change. People evolve. Yes, even this site and how it’s run evolves. 🤔

I guess I should have worded it differently. It's impossible to mod properly in a room like that while chatting on the side, because you're not giving your full attention to the room and imo shouldn't be logged in to your mod account.

@TheDifference you have a point there too
so in your eyes because a mod cant log in to even help a little bit you say its ok just not to mod at all?

visiting other rooms and forums has never been a no. in fact besides a few i encouraged it.

i think your in it to argue and thats why your here. i dont wish to converse with you further after this.

no mods have agreed to a min hours per week and expected to mod those exact hours/timeframe. if that is the case the admins and cm are far over reaching their control and the mods have yet to realize they are being taken. if any admin has rules in place regarding times then it no longer is voluntary.

despite evolution core rules havent changed. leading people on to say they have is a crock of BS. cm would be out of his mind looney to change core rules. voluntary still means do what you can when you can. mods are still lowest, admins still are above them, mods still put in the most for little. fun is still the name of the game, yet it seems most colored here in this thread take as a piece to put on a resume.

From my understanding, every mod is expected to be online x hours per week. Yes, they pick the timeframe they are here to mod. If they are on here outside the time frame they choose to mod, why is it a big deal if they are signed on an alt account just to chat?I understand that every mod follows rules given to them by their admin and chatmaster. Even if mods have to play by the rules they agree to too, they're first here to have fun and secondly volunteers. I think you made some good points, I choose to see things differently. How I see is mods are doing what they can, when they can. And that's not speaking of the bad apples who rarely mod. Just because a mod is here doesn't mean they are in the headspace to give their full attention to chat . CM should consider relaxing the rule on mods having an alt account.

That’s not what I said. If I’m in modding, I’m gonna mod properly. If a mod is spending time logged in as a mod and chatting while ignoring serious stuff going on, they need to log out imo.

If they can chat and cover everything off then great but it’s not something I could do especially when modding alone which is often the case
and that was my point. you feel as if you cannot do it. and that is fine. not everyone can. however it is possible.

i get not being on the alt account if there aren't enough mods in the room. but if the room is staffed with mods are we just not supposed to chat? if the room can't be overstaffed and you can't have another account, you just can't be in the room then?
That’s seems to be the argument but the barman analogy is still right. If I was a barman and I went into the pub when the bar was short staffed, I wouldn’t be banned from being a drinker in that pub

I think we should test it live. Get a mod to mod in adult, gay, or sex, and chat casually in a PM window and see how much they miss.
lol! if you pm window is in the right spot you cant miss main chat... but please go into sex chat and see if jayce can do it... report findings back... with s/s

ive found mods can comfortably handle 75-100 users each. so for a 300 user room 3-4 mods on a time would be acceptable. for adult, sex and gay and teens i would not find it over moderation to see 6 on at a time. now with the mod limit and some rooms not having good people, it can get spread thin, to almost unacceptable. however if you have your entire mod team in every day at the same time. that is poor planning from the admin, as the admin is responsible for hiring. it may happen once in a while but too often and somethings got to change. and its happening where mods are using 2nd accts when theyve been hired to mod, then that again is on the admin. but your main priority all the time is to mod.

check the room 1st
check your team mates 2nd
check forums 3rd.

im not saying anyones not doing this but if your mod acct already has access to vip features ... why do you have a 2nd vip feature acct?

i can hardly keeping up with one conversation. i can't split my attention to 2 threads at once!

I'm not often the voice of dissent but I don't agree that it's sus to have an alt account or that people are suddenly deprived of the ability to chat when they get a mod badge. Nobody is paid to mod; we're all volunteers drawn from ********.

Personally I wouldn't have an alt account solely to chat on. I've had them and it's impossible to ignore the sh*t that goes on in the room so I'd just return to my mod account

It isn't against the rules either, at least in our room. There was a thread about this issue in Lesbian Chat (a mod was on her alt account then jumped to her mod account to kick some pedos, if I recall correctly) and Chopper commented in that thread that he sees no problem with mods having alt accounts.

@ArChAnGeLs you might want to clarify with your Admin that you're allowed to have an alt account although they presumably already know about it.

On your original issue of the side rooms disappearing, I would guess that smaller rooms might allow the side rooms to stay there longer but in the bigger rooms I can see why they delete quickly if they're not used.

Mystic Meg reckons this thread might disappear soon 👀

I made another account with a different email and purchased VIP so that I can chat with friends on my non mod account... as someone said earlier this is voluntary do when my shift has ended it means I log out and go on non mod account I am surely not expected to mod 24/7 !!

This is why the 2nd account not on my main email
