What is up with all the bot profiles?

Getting inundated with messages from with usernames comprised of random letters that do not make a bit of sense. For example, I usually get 10-15 per day from names such as "lokaxeiois"(not an actual name I've seen here, just an example). Why are these so rampant? Are they generated by the site to make it look busier and therefore generate more traffic?

And don't even get me started on the accounts that use two first names and pilfered images from models on the internet, asking you for whatsapp and hangouts..... I think we all know exactly what those are when they hit you up asking if you have those aforementioned messaging services. Usually get 5-6 of those per day, multiple times I've had over 10 in a 6-9 hr window.

It's ridiculous. I want to participate in this site and I have before, back before it changed from the Java based digichat client. But these stupid profiles with the random letters posting external links to BS sites(I never click them, I take cyber security very seriously) and the two first name, stolen pic accounts are ruining it for me. It is not fun when you have to sit there and go through them one by one as they bombard your inbox. What gives?

Awesome. I assume Users are registered folks, so if I go and change the settings, anybody who messages is a lot more likely to be legitimate.
Yeah, but there are still some bots that come as users that have fake pics of a woman and have their country as Nigeria or somewhere in africa. I've seen it a lot recently 🙁

Ugh, that's frustrating, but every bit helps. Wonder why when they've got their country listed, its almost always one of those two? There have been a couple ive seen from USA, UK, RUS, and I think one had GER aa their country. But 99% have either been Ghana or Nigeria.

You can change your PM preferences? I figured mods can do that with theirs, but I didn't know regular users could do it.
Mods aren’t allowed to change theirs and mods aren’t allowed to block anyone in the room, mods need to be able to make sure anyone can contact them at anytime incase they need assistance from a mod/admin

Most chat rooms are full of bots. The modus operandi is to get you away from the chat room and towards a more open medium such as hangouts or whatsapp.

Most bots will create names that are either so generic or last name first name setup. Their pics are of some adult entertainers or some poor soul on the internet.

They are always looking for a relationship, and get grumpy when I say "Try Tinder".

Their cause? To get something of monetary value from you. And some are just brazen about it too.

There is a stratagem in place to deal with these pestilent waste of electrons... Know the room, and find out who the regulars. It's not hard, they are the ones who post crap (sorry guys, tis true) on main chat. Create conversation and post crap of your own on there too. Build a friends list, and then shut off the pms to these bots.

Scammers are different, they try and override the PM's being turned off to non-regulars by adding a friend request. Don't know them, delete them.

That means their IP is located at whatever country or place it is. Bots don’t change their country manually, so what’s displayed is accurate.

Interesting, very interesting indeed

Noticed in gay chats some bots stay in the room even after I have kicked them 15 minutes prior.
