Why has the system changed my name against my wishes?

I registered today under the name AriaSoul but the system changed my name to Soul1 against my wishes. Someone else is now using the name AriaSoul as well!
There is obviously some kind of clique on general chat because my name has been given to someone else and now I'm known as Soul1. I did not request this change but my name was taken from me. This is unfair.

There is already a thread about this in the general section. Please refrain from making multiple threads. Staff are volunteers and have lives away from chat. It’ll be answered when they’re online

So not only am I lambasted for querying but other members are allowed to make sneering offensive posts in response to my query. This doesn't seem like an ethical place.
