Who should pay on a date?

Who do you expect to pay when you’re on a date?

When someone pays for me, especially on a first date, I feel inordinately obligated to tag along for another, subsequent date. If I come to realise on that date that there is little to no sexual or romantic chemistry, that can create quite the quandary.

I’d prefer to avoid that pressure and simply split it down the middle.

Noted, thank you 💋

@Inkandtatts choosing “Me” so he looks like a fucking saint. Boy, you ain’t fooling us!
You only checked so you’d know whether you’d need to bring cash in your wallet, or just protection.

If you go out expecting to pay and you end up paying with no resistance from your date, they’re a leech and that’s the end of them.

But…

If you get to that stupid moment where you’re fighting over the card machine or pushing cash back and forth, that inevitably includes some finger games on the table that causes some mock awkwardness so you move on to….

Getting that eye contact moment where nobody else in the world exists other than the two of you and you know you’ve just met your soulmate

Or not, and you find they have a lazy eye, need to improve their skincare and you breathe a sigh of relief that you never had to find out what other skin conditions they might have.

Oh no, you’re paying for me. End of. It would be rude of me to “offer” to pay with no intention of doing so. And what if you say yes? Then I’m fucked and I really don’t want to climb out a bathroom window

Honestly i think its fair you go half and half i mean you went on the date so why not pay for your food and drink too its 2022 women shouldnt expect men to pay and vice versa but thats my opinion, like fair enough if he/she offers fair enough let them do it but i just think it should be 50/50

There are many methods of payment

I just assume I’m paying or no date, I feel bad splitting still. Also depends on their financial status cuz I’m not dumb to pay for someone who has no concept of the value of money.. but then we go to the other methods of payment.

I’m keeping a list of all you selfish people who want me to pay some of the check. I hope you’re happy with yourselves. We will never date now! Your loss

Depends who is the inviter and who is the invitee.

I wouldn't offer to take someone on a date if I wasn't able to pay for it. If they want to offer to go halves its appreciated but I would probably reject the offer unless they insist.

If I've been invited, I'll always offer you pay my way, but again, if they absolutely insist, I wouldn't fight that hard

I usually pay 100% of the time since I make more money then my partner. If we go for something smaller like ice cream/coffee he picks up the bill but eating out is usually on me.

He’s def spoiled. I mean I’m no celebrity elite so we aren’t swimming in it but I do make decent money. I want to go do nice things and have nice thing and since he’s my partner he should have them to.

now ur just rubbing it in 😀
Im happy to hear it tho, i love "LOVE".

If the date goes well and you're planning on having one or more dates in the future, the person who initiated the date should pay. Then on the second date, the other person pays. And so on and so forth with both parties exchanging treating each other each time they go out. If there's a love triangle, good luck keeping track of whose turn it is today.

If the date goes poorly but no one made an ass out of themselves, split the check and cut your losses. If the inviting party was a tool, they get to pay and the invitee gets to ghost them. And if the invitee is the problem, the inviter gets to take a loss and pay for both meals because the invitee clearly isn't going to clean up their act and pull out their pocketbook in the last five minutes to make amends.

For me it's not so much a his or hers deal, it's more of... If you're inviting someone to have an experience with you, you should be prepared to pay the way for the two of you. Inviting someone on a date but expecting them to pay makes you the problem.

Did..... did Chopper just say the woman should pay on the date?

I'm going to Hell, I know.

This is exactly how it should be or discuss it before hand just like for example "where going on a trip it cost 20$ each" mature communication is key to good relationships. No expectations from both sides goes a long way.

Some date I do not want themto know were I live
I said home made, not home served. You could meet in some random public place with your untrustworthy date. 🥷

When your date sees you bumbling along with a foil-covered casserole, he'll be charmed, fall in love, and all that jazz.
