Good evening,
First and fore most id like to start of by saying there is actually two debates going on here. For the purpose of not cluttering chat avenue i will just discuss them both here since theyre relevant.
1. Whether a woman(or man) should listen/respect to her significant others opinion about her choice of clothing.
2. Whether a woman(or man)s clothing shows what type of character they are
Today we were having a discussion in general chat regarding if women should have an "obligation" to respect their partners opinion in regards to their clothing choice. The discussion moved towards modest vs immodest clothing then a pretentious woman said that a persons character can not be defined by their clothing.
I for one belive that a persons choice to dress modestly often reflects their character. Their choice of clothing can showcase values such as self-respect and humility. It can also indicate a persons commitment to cultural or religious values, which often emphasize modesty as a virtue. Therefore, modest clothing can be a reliable indicator of an individual's character and principles.
When it comes to a woman (whom she has a committed relationship with) i believe it is absolutely critical to respect her partners opinion. As is the same for a man. Certainly a man does not "own" a woman and can then command her in what to wear. But a man can certainly tell a woman if he disagrees with the choice of her outfit and ask her to "cover up". After all a committed relationship means commitment and respect to your partner. If you arent going to respect your partner and just feel like you can do whatever you want with no objection, then why be in a give and take relationship?
