It’s hard to believe it’s been 23 years ago today that we suffered the deadliest terrorist attack in human history. They were also the deadliest incidents ever for fighter fighters and law enforcement officers in the United States.

This thread is to remember the 2,977 innocent men, women, and children who were murdered on that day, and also the first responders who saved countless lives.

(For those of you who think the events of 9/11 are funny or something to joke about, I respect your right to do that, but you’re not welcome in this thread)

When this happened my mother was 24 years old with a 2 year old (me) and 1 year old baby (my sister). And unfortunately 2001 is also the same year her favorite singer Aaliyah had passed away the month before to an airplane crash. That was a crazy year she’ll never forget. Rest in peace to those souls and to Aaliyah. 😔🙏🏽❤️ praying for those families that have to think about this day that will taunt them for years. God bless them and cover them in your blood.

I wasn’t a big fan of her music but I remember when Aaliyah passed away it was very shocking.

I remember when this happened I turned on the tv and thought how cool is this I thought it was a movie I was watching, no one deserves to die regardless of what happened, no country deserves to suffer like this or have it’s country invaded and think they are doing something good for that country, ever since that day peoples lives changed forever, innocent lives have been ruined and lost throughout the world because of governments, we all saw what happened with the weapons of mass destruction, still nothing to be found, the innocent civilians are the real heroes in all of this and my fellow emergency services who risked their lives to protect yours. Ask yourself one question, why did it happen and how. The untouchables became the touched in a massive way.

Yes, it not only changed the US forever but many other countries around the world.

For those of you who respected my wishes that this be a thread of remembrance PLEASE IGNORE THOSE WHO ARE NOT ADHERING TO THAT. I am having their posts removed and if you copy their posts yours will be removed also. Thanks 🙏🏼

Was working , stand tending, the day the skies went quiet. The Heli loggers stopped their flights, everything went silent.

A few CF planes made an odd detour near a CFB.

I remember watching on the news, thousands of US travellers, being diverted to Newfoundland, were many were taken in, fed and housed , by Newfies many of whom probably barely made end meet.

An image from NY that stayed in my mind, was a fireman, covered in ash and dust, expressionless.

Even though this happened 7 years before I was born, everyone everywhere is aware of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the twin towers of the WTC falling, one after the other, after being struck by two hijacked commercial flights:

American Airlines flight 11 and United Airlines flight 175 perished and the two towers fell in less than 2 hours. Just under 3,000 lives were lost from 90 countries across 4 attacks that day.

It has been 23 years since this happened, and it’s still raw in many people’s hearts and will be for many years to come.

It is said that everyone remembers what they were doing at the time it happened. I may not have been born yet, and certainly couldn’t fathom how it affected some of you, but I do know it was one of the most traumatic and tragic events of the modern era.

May God bless you all and give you all strength on this day of remembering the terror of September 11 2001.

That was one of the weirdest things. I kept looking up at the skies that day and in the following days and it was completely empty and eerily quiet.

I was in downtown DC that day when the first plane hit.. it's was madness.. in a few minutes the whole city was shut down.. like a ghost town.. then our jets flew straight up the plotomic river .. it was insane.. they thought the one was going to hit the white house.. but it was taken down first by heroes in Pennsylvania.. couldn't make a phone call out for about a day.. the shock of it all I think I remember the most.. and the sadness after but at the same time.. everyone was so kind to each other like neborghors loved each other.. the world changed that day for sure

Wow, it must have been surreal to be in Washington that day. Yes I remember the concern about the White House also. Once the third plane went down if felt like it was possible that they were attacking every large city and more and more planes would be hijacked and crashed. Thankfully that didn’t happen.

I'm sure it wasn't anything compared to NYC.. but DC isn't talked about much.. but there was a world before 911 and the world after.. madness..God bless them all who died and those left to carry on without them
