In Remembrance: September 11 2001 🕯️

Even though this happened 7 years before I was born, everyone everywhere is aware of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the twin towers of the WTC falling, one after the other, after being struck by two hijacked commercial flights:

American Airlines flight 11 and United Airlines flight 175 perished and the two towers fell in less than 2 hours. Just under 3,000 lives were lost from 90 countries across 4 attacks that day.

It has been 23 years since this happened, and it’s still raw in many people’s hearts and will be for many years to come.

It is said that everyone remembers what they were doing at the time it happened. I may not have been born yet, and certainly couldn’t fathom how it affected some of you, but I do know it was one of the most traumatic and tragic events of the modern era.

May God bless you all and give you all strength on this day of remembering the terror of September 11 2001.

Was working , stand tending, the day the skies went quiet. The Heli loggers stopped their flights, everything went silent.

A few CF planes made an odd detour near a CFB.

I remember watching on the news, thousands of US travellers, being diverted to Newfoundland, were many were taken in, fed and housed , by Newfies many of whom probably barely made end meet.

An image from NY that stayed in my mind, was a fireman, covered in ash and dust, expressionless.
That was one of the weirdest things. I kept looking up at the skies that day and in the following days and it was completely empty and eerily quiet.

I was in downtown DC that day when the first plane hit.. it's was madness.. in a few minutes the whole city was shut down.. like a ghost town.. then our jets flew straight up the plotomic river .. it was insane.. they thought the one was going to hit the white house.. but it was taken down first by heroes in Pennsylvania.. couldn't make a phone call out for about a day.. the shock of it all I think I remember the most.. and the sadness after but at the same time.. everyone was so kind to each other like neborghors loved each other.. the world changed that day for sure

Wow, it must have been surreal to be in Washington that day. Yes I remember the concern about the White House also. Once the third plane went down if felt like it was possible that they were attacking every large city and more and more planes would be hijacked and crashed. Thankfully that didn’t happen.

I'm sure it wasn't anything compared to NYC.. but DC isn't talked about much.. but there was a world before 911 and the world after.. madness..God bless them all who died and those left to carry on without them
