Here’s a question. is It a sandwich or not? Lets have poll and discuss this.
If we're going off the formula of a sandwich {bread, spread, filling, bread} then yes. A hotdog is technically a sandwich.
But if we're going by the cube rule of food for identifying dished based on starch locations, a hotdog would be considered a taco.

Technically, of course, a hotdog is a sandwich. A sandwich is a food typically consisting of vegetables, sliced cheese or meat, placed on or between slices of bread serve as a container or wrapper for another food type. Enter a hotdog, which fits the bill as it is served in a slit bun containing a form of sausage.

Many, many people, culturally, do not register hotdogs as sandwiches. By dint of their form, tradition and how we typically eat them, they are treated as their own culinary genre, just like tacos or burgers.
